Any extra tips on keeping Chinese Cresteds skin itch free?

I'm caring for two right now (hairless ones), one's skin has been itching him a lot since fall began , we live in N.Y.

Can't find a flea on him, so far I put him on benadryl twice daily 12 mg for his weight of 12 lbs. for 7 days and now brought it down to once daily.

I've been spraying him daily with a vets approved skin conditioner but he is still it abit uncomfortable when I pet his back but far better than he was originally.

I also put neosporin on one hotspot he bit open and it's healed up good the past week but he still tries to get at it.

I have his body covered now with a sweatsuit so he can't get at the spot again and bite it open.

Does anyone familiar with this rare breed have anything else I can try that may work out better?

I really don't want to keep him on the benadryl to much longer.

I read that lanolin is not good for them (allergict to) so will be checking the products today to see if it contains that as an ingredient.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Any extra tips on keeping Chinese Cresteds skin itch free?
HI! I have a Chinese Crested.

This breed is very prone to allergies, its possible it could be a food allergy. What is the current diet?

Contact allergies are possible too.. do you have wool carpet? Does he roll around in the grass alot?

It could also be some kind of skin infection going on.

Is his skin dry and flakey? That will cause itching as well. There are lotions you can use.. I have used Curel Ultra healing, Olay quench, and eucerin with no problems on my cresteds.. there are a few products I have ordered online which work well too:

this lady has emu oil lotion, which I LOVE

http://stores.ebay.com/Bath-and-Body-by-...

this lady makes body wash, lotions, and astrigent for the crested skin

http://stores.ebay.com/ALLY-OOPS-PET-SUP...

If you have any more questions, please join us at www.crestedsrock.com there are people there who have more experience with skin issues than me. They would be more than willing to help!

edited to add, it could just be the time of year, the air is less humid and drying his skin. A humidifyer in the home may help. Adding some salmon or cod liver oil to his diet is good for skin too.

Another good skin conditioner, if he's willing to sit still for about 10-15 mins, straight out of the warm tub, while his pores are still open, put some olive oil on his skin, and wrap him up in a warm towel. Snuggle with him in the towel and let his skin absorb the oils.

You can also exfoliate skin to slough off the dead, dry skin. I use either a salt or sugar scrub. No need to buy expensive ones, such as the ones at bath and body.. you can get an inexpensive jar at walmart. I have also made my own sugar scrub using sugar and olive oil... just mix for the desired consitency, typically half and half.

Drink 6-8 eight ounce glasses of water per day, more if exercising vigorously.

Moisturize with Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion immediately after drying off after showering. Apply to entire body.
Reply:you can go to wal mart and get some stuff call aveno oatmeal and take a bath in it pour it when u run your water buy the lotion also put this on three times a day and you will see a change all of this is in the pharmacy section
Reply:yes a bath in water and bathbeads with oil.
Reply:Goldbond cream! or there is the St-Ives Hydration cream that works wonders for me. Vaseline has a good hydrating cream as well...there are so many nowadays. good luck!
Reply:Dry skin types have to be extremely careful to protect their skin. Yogurt-honey combination helps dry skin. Make an egg pack with a yolk, a teaspoon of honey, a tablespoon of milk powder. This is beneficial to dry skin types. There are many helpful tips to cure dry skin at http://useinfo-dryskin.blogspot.com/

My dog had flakey skin and is constantly itching. How do I treat that?

Has your dog also put on some weight but seems to be eating normal amounts of food? How old is your dog, what brand are you feeding and what breed is your dog? The answer to your question can only be answered with more information from you.

Most of the time it is the dog food being fed. Changing to a high quality food will sometimes stop this. I feel a hypoallergenic diet of Pinnacle trout and sweet potatoes. Their is NO corn, or wheat, and it is not cheap, but your dog and you will be happier in the long run..AND your dog will actually require less food with a high quality diet. So it will last longer.

I have a ****** who is always itching, so I finally broke down and bought this dog food from my local feed store, my dogs have been on it for about 2 weeks and I have already seen a HUGE difference.. I wont go back to anything else.. I tried just about all of them.. Holistic is the way to go in my opinion.. And I feed 9 dogs and it lasted me longer than the proplan I had them on..

Contact me if you like

PS it's not mange.. sheesh I don't understand people.. Mange is very different and they lose TONS of hair.. Try food first and then if it doesn't get better, have your vet check her for thyroid problems..Its a simple blood test.

My dog had flakey skin and is constantly itching. How do I treat that?
Mange most likely. Or a reaction to a shampoo maybe or fleas can cause the skin reaction also.

Get to vet to get treatment Mange will get out of hand quickly and can spread to other pets.
Reply:What do you bathe your dog in? Your dog could be allergic to the shampoo or even her food. You should take her to the vet.
Reply:First stop. Vet, make sure it isn't a medical condition such as a staph infection or allergies.

If everything checks out fine there, then look at diet and overbathing. Dogs should be bathed no more than once every six months, unless obviously dirty or directed to do so by the vet.

Try changing to a high quality food. That will also help.

Nothing you find at a grocery store is going to be a good food. High quality foods can be found at large pet store chains, or online. A couple of foods I like are Nutro Natural, Innova, and Cannidae.

There are other high quality dog foods. Here's how to spot them:

A high quality food will have little or no fillers such as corn, wheat or soy. These aren't very digestable for dogs, and are common food related allergens. Since you were seeing corn meal in the first few ingredients, those are not high quality foods. Foods list ingredients by content, with the ingredient it contains most of at the top.

A high quality food will not contain BHT, BHA or Ethoxyquin, these are all chemical preservatives that have been linked to cancer.

A high quality food will not contain by-products of any kind. Meat meals are ok as long as the source of the meat is listed, such as Chicken Meal.

A high quality diet should have meat as at least the first ingredient., and be made from human grade ingredients. Foods that don't use human grade ingredients often get their ingredients from less than desirable sources, such as meat from animals that were diseased, or euthanized.

There is another diet option other than dog food. Some people choose to feed a raw diet. This involves feeding the dog raw meaty bones and organ meat. However it is not as simple as throwing a couple chicken bones in a bowl everyday. If you wish to feed this type of diet, do lots and lots of research first. Switching to this diet without knowing what your doing can lead to nutritional problems for your dog. I'll give you some links as a starting point in research if you are interested in this type of diet.

Reply:I would take it to the vet and have it looked at. It could be fleas or just dry skin or allergic to something in it's food. You never know what it could be.
Reply:Flaky skin can be caused by any number of things. Your best bet is to visit your vet to determine the cause so that you can begin treating properly rather than taking a shot in the dark. You don't mention any redness or inflammation, but constant itching usually result in these two conditions. Flaky skin usually equates to dry skin which can be brought about by over-bathing. Flea bite dermatitis usually is more localized to an area that becomes itchy and inflamed resulting in staph infection. Allergies to food, whether its to corn, wheat, chicken, beef or any other ingredient, can also cause itching but this again should create red, inflamed skin. Contact allergy to grass and other plant/ground covering could be a culprit. But, your veterinarian is the only one who can really tell you how to treat the problem and then, only after he has examined your dog and determined what the actual cause is.

Lamb and rice is a good quality dog food formulated to promote healthy skin and coats in dogs. When selecting the brand to feed your dog, look to see that real lamb is the number one ingredient. I used to breed Miniature Schnauzers and still have a large number of animals. I have found this formula to be the best for promoting healthy skin and coats overall.

Good luck with your dog.
Reply:Many times dry, itchy, and flaky skin is caused by the dog not receiving the proper amounts of omega fatty acids in the food you feed.As stated above,a premium food such as Innova or Canidae can help with skin problems.Another thing to try is supplementing your dogs meals with omega rich foods.Canned salmon is a good source of omegas, that alot of people feed their dogs.

Increasing the omegas helps with the skin, and it also makes the coat soft and shiny. In many cases it will even reduce the amount your dog sheds.

I started giving my 80 pound lab 1/2 cup of canned salmon with her morning feeding about 1 year ago.It has mad a big difference in her skin, coat, and shedding.
Reply:Ask the vet for a shampoo with oatmeal
Reply:Beat olive oil and 1 raw egg, let him lick it up. Do it 4 days a week

I have a case of mild hives. Is there anything I can do to stop itching and soothe skin with no medication?

I only have three spots with hives/ raised bumps: my left hand index finger, my left hand pinky knuckle, and the area near my elbow.

Any suggestions?

I have a case of mild hives. Is there anything I can do to stop itching and soothe skin with no medication?
Since its only a few hives you could just ignore them. If they dont go away after a day take a benadryll. I know its medicine but it works wonders.

If you cant ignore them you could try soaking your hand in an oatmeal bath.....you can buy it at the drugstore I think aveno makes one. Since its only your hand and elbow you only need to fill a large bowl with water and add the oatmeal mix.....read the instructions on the package. This works for my hives but I take benadryll too.
Reply:If you don't have any anti-itch lotion then cold water and avoid touching the area if at all possible.
Reply:Benadryl
Reply:Cold water compresses and will help relieve itching. Calamine lotion can soothe the skin.
Reply:Hives is a skin allergic response to just about anything. It appears to be especially related to problems associated with the Gallbladder. Google hives +TCM or +alternative or +naturopath to be directed to very informative websites such as this one:

For the itching: Aloe vera gel. Calendula spray. Calamine lotion. Fluocinide (lidocaine). Sayman Salve (sulphur %26amp; petroleum jelly). Honey. Cool compresses of water or refrigerated tea made from red clover and peppermint feel really great.
Reply:Soak them in Aveeno water bath (oatmeal based), it will help sooth the itch.

Does anyone know if your skin itches when you are losing weight?

This may sound stupid, but I have lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks and wondering if my skin could be itching because of it. (I know a wound itches when it is healing)

Does anyone know if your skin itches when you are losing weight?
Never heard of that happening.
Reply:Umm,no.
Reply:I never heard that before.
Reply:I have not heard of that. By chance, are you taking any diet pills?
Reply:I don't think so. You may just have dry skin or be allergic to something. Sometimes your body reacts to change. Like when I started drinking alot of milk my nails had this tiny brown line on them.
Reply:Mine doesn't. Put on some lotion, why don't you.
Reply:I don't think so, remember this is winter and your skin could just be dry... Maybe your clothes are too loose and rubbing on your skin... check out other reasons.
Reply:Ive never heard that before but i can tell you that when you are working out %26amp; you are itchy, its from blood circulation %26amp; that you are out of shape
Reply:Put some cream on...because itching can cause stretch marks...So prevent it by putting iching oil or anyhing that can prevent stretch marks..
Reply:If you are indoors during cold weather, the heated air could be drying your skin and making you itch. Are you drinking enough water? Be sure and take in the proper amounts of the right fats, like avacado, walnuts and olive oil s for example. Sometimes a light diluted vinegar rinse, 1/2 cup to a quart of water will help to restore your skin's natural acid balance. Keep up the fresh fruits and vegatables, and go easy on the salt. Best wishes.
Reply:Actually, i've lost the same amount of weight in three weeks and im itching like crazy! I've never itched prior to my weight loss, its not the weather and definately not my diet. My boyfriend said the same thing was happening to him when he lost weight. Im also noticing im only itching wear i have a lot of fat;not all over. my BF said it will eventually go away, its like a phase of some sort.

I have severe excema on my hands. What can I get to stop the intense itching and cracked skin.?

a prescirption from a medical Doctor.

I have severe excema on my hands. What can I get to stop the intense itching and cracked skin.?
same. i went to my dermo, and he perscribed a cream. until then, use plenty of lotion, and check 4 alergies. your excema could be caused by a milk or wheat alergy.
Reply:I have the same problem and I have found that juice from an aloe plant helps but if you don't have the aloe plant use oatmeal. Don't laugh it works. Take 1/4 cup of oatmeal and 2-3 tablespoons warm water, mix well and apply to the hands. Leave on for 5 minutes, rinse with cool water, not hot. Heat makes it worse. Can use as many times a day as needed.
Reply:My sister in law has excema, go see a physician and ask him about a shot (i don't know what it's called), it's worked wonders for her!!
Reply:There is an Eczema medicated lotion called DERMAREST which is very effective. My son has it and it has helped him quite a lot. It is a 1% Hydrocortisone cream and you can find it in any drug store. Apply it 2-3 times everyday for 4-5 days and you will feel better.
Reply:The cause of eczema is not known but aggravating factors include hands that are in constant contact with soap and water, harsh household products and some vegetable juices. If a physician does not specify a particular regimen, Arbonne has some recommendations that might alleviate some of your discomfort. The ABC (Arbonne Baby Care) line is the most gentle and perfect for skin conditions as it is the most sensitive, pure, safe, and beneficial. They have a wash, lotion, body oil, etc. that are botanically-based and pH correct, dermatologist tested, non-sensitizing, non-irritating, and formulated without nut oils. They're formulated with shea butter which is a unique botanical that soothes, moisturizes and protects skin. With its key components of vitamin A and E, all types of skin (including sensitive) can benefit from shea butter’s supreme, conditioning effects. Its non-toxic makeup and skin-tolerable trait make it ideal for use on sensitive skin.

They also have a great intelligence conditioning oil and rejuvenating cream that can be used whenever you feel it's necessary to relieve the discomfort and itching. I would be happy to send you a free sample to try it out if you would be open to giving it a try.
Reply:Neem Oil works BEST
Reply:I found a perfect solution for you to consider: 1. Taking 3-4 baths a week with 2 cups of ACV[The inexspensive stuff in the grocery store is just as good for this application] - soak

for 30 minutes then shower for a minute in cold water

2. 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals to take a tablespoon of [raw from a health food store]ACV in a tepid glass of water. Add a little honey or blackstrap molasses for taste[I add cinnamon].

Why does my skin itch when exercising?

I just began exercising by jogging around the neighborhood and I noticed that my skin started itching. Anyone know why this happens? I expected possibly being out of breath, sore, side cramps, etc. but itching?

Why does my skin itch when exercising?
When you exercise, your heart pumps faster and your blood vessels dilate as a mechanism for heat loss due to your energy expenditure. With exercising, you are detoxifying your body of unwanted wastes and toxins through sweating. One reason you may be itching is because of the release of these unwanted wastes through the skin. This should resolve after exercising and having taken a shower. Another more probable reason is that your blood cells release their histamines, and these mediate the itchy sensation you feel. This should also resolve after exercising. Not everybody has the same reaction to increase physical activity. Good luck!
Reply:If you are having a itching like a sting of a bee it is due to your body releasing histamines. Your pores are opening up and releasing them.
Reply:Itchy pants syndrome? or some other type of allergy? Try wearing cotton pants.

I would recommend consulting a doctor if the problem persists.

Good luck and hopefully you are able to continue exercising!
Reply:could it be you are sweating maybe?? that will make you itch.
Reply:my trainer said that its due to a build up of some kind of acid. If you work out frequently your body eventually sweats it all out. But if you take a break for a week or so it gets built up again. So it is only temporary!

I have a rash on my skin that will not stop itching and have had bathroom issues recently...?

could this be caused by seafood, I recently ate crab two days in a row and it started and then tonight I had a little lobster on my pizza and now I can't stop the itching. I have little itchy hives on the inside of my arms, my hands, stomach, and my legs. I love seafood and shellfish and have never had a problem before. What do you think?

I have a rash on my skin that will not stop itching and have had bathroom issues recently...?
Yes, it is the seafood. Take some benadryl...it will help...might need a couple to start. You should probably limit your seafood intake in the future. If your tongue and throat starts to swell, go to the emergency room for a shot.
Reply:Becareful. I started out doing this and ended up in the hospital getting an IV for a severe allergic reaction. I had never had an reaction either and had seafood twice in one month. I had a reaction both times. I didn't realize the first reaction was caused by the crab I had eaten. The second reaction was really bad also but ended up in the ER both times.
Reply:go to the dr. its a food allergy. best you can do is ice down the rash and take some immodium.

NORTN N,i am confuse, does your answer refer to inflammation and itching of the skin?

if so your advice please.

NORTN N,i am confuse, does your answer refer to inflammation and itching of the skin?
Yes, as to advice, see a Dermotologist, Not a GP. Mine was diagnosed finally with a skin scraping.

After 3 months of treatment I saw significant improvement.

I would call my GP first, and ask for a referral to a dermotologist.

In groin area dark, dust like coming, color changing, but no itching. if wet, skin also become thin, jockitc

Do you have stinging pains? If you do, it might be STD of some sort. But don't worry, I'm just giving you the worse case scenario.

But if there's no pain, just irritations, then it might be fungal infection. Dark area means it's inflamed. Fungal infection looks a lot like jock itch. If you don't treat it soon, it can blister and that's irritating.

Use Hydrozole cream and continue using it up til one or two week after the infection clears. however I think hydrozole is prescription only medication. Go to your doctor to have it checked if you really want to be sure.

Why does my skin itch whenever I get hot?

Whenever I get hot (in the winter), my skin itches all over. This itching feeling also comes on when I am in a situation that causes my body temperature to increase, say I am in a conversation that makes me anxious / nervous. The itching is mainly concentrated around my feet (below the ankle), hands (wrists) and head (Scalp).

Why does my skin itch whenever I get hot?
hope the link below helps.

Unfortunately it doesnt talk about the itching you experience during a nervous or anxious state
Reply:You have got an allergy of heat.definitely.
Reply:You have skin allergy...
Reply:plz consult a specialist
Reply:Sometimes itching in areas is the result of a yeast infection (candida albicans). One way to see if this may be the cause is to get a tube of antifungal cream, and spread it on one of the areas while you are itching, and see if that makes a difference.

It may take a few minutes, but if it works, and the itching is reduced or eliminated then check out www.hufa.org - the yeast link, to get basic info on candida albicans.

Why does my skin itch/burn sometimes when it gets wet? (especially after showering or sweating)?

Most often it is a severe burning about 10 minutes after showering, regardless of the water temperature. However a chlorinated spa tub (hot water) seems to relieve it. It does seem to be related to dry skin, however lotion doesn't appear to help. It sometimes makes it worse after applying. Sometimes when not itching, lotion will cause the itch onset. Sweating also seems to bring the itch on.

Why does my skin itch/burn sometimes when it gets wet? (especially after showering or sweating)?
You may have a mild form of urticaria (hives). There is one type, most commonly seen in young men (age approx. 18 to mid 20s) called cholinergic urticaria, which is hives induced by heat. Sweating, warm/hot showers, exercise, strong emotions, anything that raises the core body temperature, can bring out the itching. It usually appears with rash consisting of tiny red bumps, which resolve soon after the body temperature has cooled. Some people find that extremely hot water, like you'd find in a hot tub, actually helps relieve the itch of hives (due to forcing mast cell degranulation), but if you have cholinergic urticaria this can be dangerous, since you can experience a histamine dump from all those mast cells degranulating.
Reply:you should see a allergy specialist for any allergys you may have and also check the components that are in your water there may be a small chance that it could be doing serious harm to your body

Why is my skin itch when i exercise?

i mean im fine for a little bit but when the asthma kick in and i can't breathe that well i start to itch everywhere.

its not a normal itch it feels like its almost under the skin kind of like prickling, and itching doesn't really help.

it happened last nite for ther first time without exercise i was just getting ready to go to bed and i starting itching like crazy.

Why is my skin itch when i exercise?
Itching is most likely to occur after you walk or run, usually if you have just started to exercise in your lifetime or when you increase your intensity. Blood is being forced so hard through your body that it is able to reach your capillaries which are very small. This causes your capillaries to itch because they have been without blood for a while and they are opening up as the blood is pumped through. If you don't get the blood to the capillaries in your body they will die and turn blue- also called varacose veins. So itching in this case is really really good.

Name the internal disorders that are linked to mild persistent itching of the skin.?

Hi there,

Do you have allergies? Also, is there ever little welts or hives on your skin? Any burning? I ask because I suffer with thhe same thing and still don't knwo EXACTLY what is causign it. I do however have allergies to seafood. Sometimes I think I get this way with the itching because I accidentally have seafood in sauces etc.

Name the internal disorders that are linked to mild persistent itching of the skin.?
I know there is some sort of blood condition that pregnant women get that causes their skin to itch.
Reply:Atopic Dermatitis, and allergies are two that I can think of off the top of my head. You should see a dermatologist to see of anything they can do. Since getting treatment for my atopoic dermatitis I've had it under control and I don't have any itching anymore!

I believe my dog to be a Belgium Malinois (Shepard mix?). What are solutions to itching and biting skin?

I believe Pepper to have allergies, but I'm not 100% sure. I've tried switching food, flea medicines, detergents, etc. She constantly itches and bites herself; sometimes causing open sores. She concentrates most on her paws, tail, and privates. The vet only offers benadryl as a solution. It does nothing but make her drowsy. I've tried different anti-itch soaps and sprays. NOTHING WORKS! I feel very bad for her as I could not imagine having to scratch every 5 seconds! Help!

I believe my dog to be a Belgium Malinois (Shepard mix?). What are solutions to itching and biting skin?
Try to figure out what the allergy is too. German shepherds have some problems with food and medicine/flea prevention allergies. If this isn't the problem, try giving your dog a hardboiled egg every couple of days. They are very good for the skin and coat. It could also be seasonal allergies or a reaction to something used to treat the grass in your neighborhood or pollution in the air or shampoos, her dog bed, or the detergent you use on your clothes, or whatever. It could also be dry skin which could be treated with specific shampoos or it could be an infestation like fleas. Another option that might sound silly but I've seen in action is that the dog is acting out an emotional problem. I once cared for a Bichon Frise with the same symptoms and eventually figured out that she became self-destructive, especially pulling the fur off her feet until they bled, over being left for boarding while her family was frequently out of town. If you exhaust all the physical problems (and seriously consider all those possibilities because they are much more likely to be the true cause), you may want to try getting the dog some distractions. Belgian Malinois are notorious for being too smart for their own good. Get some puzzle toys, like the balls that release treats through a maze mechanism so the dog has to bat it around the room for awhile to get the treats out. Also try setting aside some time every day to lavish attention on the dog.
Reply:i suggest eqyys products... i've used them on my dogs before with great results... you can order the products online or look in your local feed store
Reply:I suggest you to take your dog to vet. my dog used to itching and biting skin so took him to vet already so it seem stop. maybe fleas in your dog's skin.

Why does my skin itch so much especially when iam fast asleep?

Over the last three months, my skin has been itching alot, most especially when iam asleep. Sometimes the itching even wakes me up from sleep and when i scratch, the itchy areas swell up like mosquito bites. After a few days, the swellings go down again. I feel perfectly fine except for this itching. Some times are worse than others. I thought i was reacting to something like food or insects or even flowers since it is spring in europe and it is my first time to experince spring in europe. Sometimes the itching almost totally disappears and my skin clears but then it starts itching again. What could it be?

Why does my skin itch so much especially when iam fast asleep?
You have hives.

First, since you have been suffering with urticaria (hives) for over 6 weeks, they are now considered chronic.. One reason the hives are occurring at night is because that is when our cortisol levels are at their lowest, and most chronic hivers find they are worst at night, and some even hive only at night.

Another problem which causes hiving to worsen at night is that people often have their bodies too warm, and heat is a known mast cell degranulator - mast cells are a special type of immune system cell which contain a bunch of different chemicals, including histamine, which is what causes hives and itching. When mast cells degranulate, they release those chemicals, and being too hot will cause that to happen. Try to sleep in a cool room with minimal covers, that may help.

Third, since you are getting the hives mainly on your chest and back, it is possible the hives are pressure-related. Just the act of lying in bed all night can bring on pressure hives.

Have you tried taking an antihistamine? For people with chronic urticaria, some antihistamines, such as Ketotifen or Zyrtec, seem to work better than others. And many of us are prescribed off-label dosing, higher than what is used for simple allergies. Plus adding an H2 antihistamine such as Zantac, Tagamet or Pepcid may give you better control of the hives. Some hivers also need a leukotriene blocker (Singulair, Accolate, Zyflo). Others find that adding a mast cell stabilizer (cromolyn, or Ketotifen, which is also an antihistamine) is very helpful. Approx. half of all chronic urticaria sufferers are autoimmune, and for them a course of Cyclosporine can force a remission.

There is a recipe at the www.chronichives.com website for a lotion you can make using cromolyn which soothes the itchies and calms the rash. And for even more suggestions and information about chronic hives, check out the urticaria support group at yahoo groups - http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/urt...

Your best bet is to see an allergist/immunologist; they have the most experience in dealing with chronic urticaria. They (usually) know what tests to run, what to rule out, and which meds to use based on what type of chronic urticaria you have.
Reply:Dry skin.

A great moisturizer for dry skin is Aveeno. It has no perfume in it.
Reply:bed bugs...get a new mattress or new cover sheets.
Reply:Try putting lotion on before bed
Reply:could be bed bugs
Reply:you are probably hot and when your'e hot you are hot you are gonna sweat and you get sweaty and sticky and you start to itch
Reply:Did You Change Your Laundry Soap?
Reply:could be you have bed bugs, i would try washing ur sheets every once in a while
Reply:how old are you, r u around 30, 40, 50, just turned?
Reply:You might want to inspect your itchy areas and see if there are bites of any sorts...you might have scabies or something..I know that sounds gross, but its a mite that burrows under your skin and lays eggs which causes itching..and it may itch more at night causce you aren't as active and more aware of other stimuli...

Anyway...it's a commono problem, most people just don't talk about it..or you could be allergive to something..have you started using a diff kind of detergent or anything....try moisturizing your skin..that might also do the trick..

If yousee that they look like bug bites..I would get to the doctor to get treated..
Reply:More than likely you have a host of things going on at once.

You may be experiencing a reaction to food or foliage and it may be too that your skin is dry. Please drink plenty of water to hydrate yourself and your skin and try a cream for dry, chapped skin.

If you've exhausted all avenues of choice, please see a Dermatologist, as the Doctor will be able to guide you along further.

Have a lovely rest of the day.
Reply:It sounds like bed bugs or an allergy to some detergent you are using . If you recently stayed in a hotel , you may have brought bed bugs home;or, have you changed your laundry detergent lately? Use Gold Bond powder to stop the itching and see a doctor if it does not clear up. If it is bed bugs-get rid of the bed %26amp; bedding .
Reply:try switching laundry detergents you could have a allerigic reaction to what you already use Or have you recently switched to another detergent! you may also try putting fresh sheets on your bed every couple days!! could be the bed bugs!!
Reply:it sounds like you`ve got bedbugs. These little creatures will inhabit the cleanest looking areas you could ever imagine including suitcases and drawers.

You must take the mattress outside into the sunlight, turning over every couple hours along with thumping it. wash the pillows and blankets in a hot wash with plenty of eucalyptus (if blankets are pure wool make the water cooler) then you need to spray all around and under the bed with the same spray , wipe all unsprayable surfaces with similar and thoroughly vacuuming everything you can (this sucks them up) make sure you empty the cleaner into a trash can asap or they`ll crawl out( they are tiny tiny)

If you are staying with a host and you are embarrased to try or suggest this then try this, just before you go to bed rub insect repellent, or lavender cream or vapour rub cream into the areas that they bite the most. The smell will repel them for a while.

Eat lots of fresh garlic, not as effective but can help, mind you your friends may disappear too..........

Another reason can be from cats and dogs which can carry tiny tiny itchy mite, the same rules apply plus wash the animal.

Keep your hands and fingernails hygienically clean as you itch anywhere bacteria from under them can make sores develop

Are you a diabetic? get tested
Reply:could be scabies.

scabies burrow under the skin and come out at night.

That is when you itch.

Very easy to diagnose just go to a dermatologist.

If that is what you have he/she will prescribed a topical cream

to apply.
Reply:My sister had a similar problem, except I don't know about the hives part. She went through the doctor and was diagnosed with scabies, and went through the treatment for that.

She also was diagnosed with ringworm, and went through the treatment for that.

She still itches, and uses Lubriderm all the time.

I personally think she has a systemic yeast infection (candida), as that can do it too.

However, it can be an allergic reaction. If you consult a doctor, find one who does believe in systemic yeast infections, so he/she will do the proper tests to rule that out. Systemic yeast infections have been said to happen in 30% of adults.

Could some bath soaps cause itching & rash on skin ?

yes they can, most soap has perfume in it, with causes dryness and irritation, in rare cases can cause a yeast infection in a women, along with alot of other products you put in the water. the milder the soap the better....use products like oil of olay,,,sensitive skin, or a oatmeal , i found usen baby warsh helps, we used it on are children to keep them soft. if you cant change your soap, use a baby lotion and apply after you dry,,,,,just dap dry and dont scrub the towel across you ...maybe your allergic to the dyes they put in it....the only soap that is pure is ivory, thats why it floats, plus they have one for sensitive skin...keep skin soft with lotion and the best of luck to you.

Reply:YES! That has happened to me and I got an infectoin but it was cureable!
Reply:yes they can some people have allergies with them.
Reply:yes, some are very drying while others have perfumes that can cause itching, redness called "contact dermatitis." The best way to determine if this is what is causing the problem is to stop using it. If you are still having the problem in a few days, it's something else...
Reply:anything with a detergent in it, like Mr.Bubble.
Reply:Yes bath soaps can cause itching and a rash on the skin. Some soap powders that you wash your clothes in can do this too. Switch to soap that does not contain any perfume or colours. You can take an antihistamine for the itching and rash.
Reply:Yes! Sometimes they contain dyes or perfumes that cause a reaction to skin. Most people in my family use only dye-free and perfume-free soaps.
Reply:Did you know many commercially made soaps contain chemicals and perfumes which can cause allergic reactions. You are vulnerable in the shower or bath! Your pores are open and any chemicals or impurities can enter through them

At this site you can also get sopas that wont give you that reaction
Reply:Yes they can, but so can not bathing, so you take your pick, bathe, get a rash, but smell good, or not bathe, get a rash, and stink bad.
Reply:Maybe so it all depends on a number of issues what your skin is sensitive to and another what the soap is made up from.

That simply is my own answer, I'm no specialist but using my experience both as a partner to someone who has sensitive skin and through my experience in care.

Take care and you may need a magnifying glass to read the contents/ingredients to what soap is made up from.
Reply:Some soaps are caustic or with detergents in them they will immediately cause rash on your body. It depends upon ones skin also as some are allergic to certain chemicals. Best way is to immediately stop using and trying another.
Reply:YOU BET!! The doctor told me the best thing to use is just plain dial soap. The anti-bacterial soap is harmful to your skin. Will dry it out and take away all the GOOD bacterail fighting ability from your skin. I was using it everyday, and going thru bottles of the santizier, and told me to STOP
Reply:dont ever use them its make ur skin dry.use cream bath instead.(sanex or dove is a good 1).
Reply:Yes, I had that, and I thought it was poison ivy
Reply:scentds in many soaps are toxic to many people. Try unscented soaps. You may also be getting a sign that your body is out of

alkaline/acid balance. I would suggest using apple cider vinegar externally and internally plus making your own soaps and shampoos to avoid toxic scents.

Reply:Wash with Pinetarsal soap and put Pinetarsal bath oil in the tub.. Put hot water as hot as you can stand it on the problem area under the shower, then cold water to finish. Pat your skin gently dry and then put a cap full of calamine lotion in your hands standing over a towel and carefully spread the solution undiluted over your skin where the problem is, let it dry properly before you go to bed.. In the morning wear something that covers the area or if you can't do that just wash it off with cold water and keep repeating everything again each night until it settles down.. Probably will take at least two or three days to feel better. Try and avoid being stressed too much.. Hope this helps you.

How to relief the itching scalp and skin, any natural food remedy?

For skin lotions, try Cetaphil. For scalp, try scalpacin. These may not be 'natural' remedies, but they do work.

If you're wanting natural remedies only, try Tea Tree Oil. It will usually relieve itching both in scalp and on the skin.

I did this one winter when my hands and lips got really chapped and it worked very well. If you're going to apply it to your skin, do it before you go to bed because it may make you look greasy. Ingesting it helps your skin too.

What does severe burning and itching of the scrotom skin after the fourth day of vasectomy mean?
Its getting well. No joke. It sounds like the symptoms you have when skill heals. The skin of the scrotum expands and contract so much that it makes the symptoms more pronounced.

I am having itching on the skin around my vagina, not inside. What could this be caused from?

If you didn't get the itching from shaving. This could be caused by the perspiration in your private area, by the material of undies, or if you use tissue paper to wipe after urinating. Try to wear breathable undies and avoid, as much as you can, to wear tight fitting jeans. Wash regularly and dry it completely. If symptoms persists, check with your OBGyne. :-)

My friend is getting itching problem on her skin can you tell me ,that what kind of medicine she may use,?
Hi,

Your friend may be having an alergic reaction to the soap she is using causing the skin to be dry and itchy.

Try to find a natural soap and use a cream with no ectra's in it like galaxal base cream .

Natural soap can be tricky to find, health shops will carry these items. I have a simular proplem and use a soap that is made with olive oil and and it has worked for me. (Rocky mountain soap)

If she is scratching until she bleeds maybe a trip to the doctor to ask to see a skin specialist that can make sure it is not something else.

In all take care of your body and it will take care of you.
Reply:Tell her to put some lotion on it.
Reply:may b ayurvedic.........?
Reply:TRY HYDROCORTISONE CREAM 1%
Reply:Your friend needs to see a Dermotologist.
Reply:Does she have a fever? Did she have Chicken Pocks when she was younger? Go to a doctor and see if it's and infection or an allergy. If it's an infection, Calamine lotion is good. For other skin problems, Hydrocortizone is good or Aloe Vera.
Reply:Tell her to buy an Aloe Vera plant. Cut a leaf and rub that on. It's fantastic and cheap.
Reply:or good medicine
Reply:Bathing?
Reply:she could be allergic to something! so worth getting it checked out. Try tar soap, that should do the trick, seems to have worked for my daughter!!
Reply:sounds dermatilogical. go see your gp for advice and treatment. could be an allergic reaction, so don't start putting loads of different creams on cause you could aggrivate the problem. i had similar problem on my legs, its called urticaria. see your gp if symptoms persist.

How do you stop itching......i have dry skin since it is coming on to winter.......?

i have scratched so much i now have a rash . I am not going to the doctor....how to help stop the itching....i have been using alot of lotion but it is not working

How do you stop itching......i have dry skin since it is coming on to winter.......?
Drink lots of water, hydration begins from the inside out! Also, try taking some Fish Oil, get your essential fatty acids up and you won't need lotion or maybe even chap stick!
Reply:Use a little cortisone cream.
Reply:Alcohol Rub it burns but it stops the itch. Try baby oil after your shower.
Reply:use cetaphil
Reply:try the aveno lotion works great
Reply:sarna lotion
Reply:get a antihistamine tab , and mositurise regularly with aqeous cream or e45
Reply:Make sure you don't have crabs. This happened to me once, I thought it was dry skin and it wound up being a creepy crawly.
Reply:Baby Oil works better for me. Lotions with scents often cause further irratation.
Reply:LOTION
Reply:use citiaphil or go to to the dermatologist
Reply:i have the same problem, except not as bad. try the gold bond medicated lotion.
Reply:Try using Aveeno, Cetaphil really good for very dry skin.
Reply:aveeno lotion is the best choise for dry skin
Reply:try ice on the area. it should cool it down. but if it doesnt go away, try alternating with a hot washcloth and the ice bag. try putting on some itching cream after. it should help.
Reply:I had the same problem. Stop using the lotion and start using

Cetaphil. Trust me. It may seem expensive but it really pays off.
Reply:u need 2 see a dr or get gold bon itching lotin
Reply:Eucerin works the best its calming and works quick.
Reply:I have the same problem and use gallons of lotion throughout the Winter to no avail..........but I still use it. I also apply baby oil to my torso (that's where I itch the most) before stepping out of the shower. Do this prior to drying off to keep the moisture in. HTH's
Reply:Get a cream for rash and then use aveno.
Reply:put some itch cream.Or some put regluar cream.Hope that helps.
Reply:The best lotion I've found to get rid of that rash is called Wool Wax. It's available on the internet, but darn few stores carry it. It tends to be cheaper and more effective than the national brands.

After a shower and before you towel off, get some safflower oil and rub that into your skin. It's cheap, it's unscented, and it feels soooo good. You can use olive oil, too, but you'll smell like a salad.
Reply:Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream really helpes. its for poison oak but its helps everything.
Reply:Switch to a gentle moisturizing soap or body wash (Dove and Oil of Olay make good ones), and use body lotion for sensitive or dry skin after showering/bathing. Try not to scratch, and if you get really red itchy spots, try a little cortisone cream. Don't overuse cortisone cream though. Try to prevent the dry skin as much as you can.
Reply:I would try using a soft soap instead of bar soap also one that has a moisturizer in it. Also look on the label and make sure it says for extra dry skin. then just make sure you use lots of lotion a few times a day.
Reply:Go to the drugstore and ask the clerk for SARNA, in the pump-form, follow the directions on the back and you will have instant relief, I promise!
Reply:Me too, its terrible! Try any good hydrating lotion it really helps. But since you said it isnt helping you, avoid using exfoliating creams and going to the doctor might help you kno...
Reply:I have the same problem

I buy goat soap..it's an all natural soap made from goat's milk

You can find some on the internet...I get the oatmeal kind

Then I use Aveeno for severley dry skin
Reply:don't shower as often or if you do, don't use soap every time and moisturize after every shower and before bed, if not more often. some lotions can actually dry out your skin more so my doctor recommends the super greasy moisturizing creams.

soft soap (liquid bathroom soap) also makes me itch so i use cetaphil instead when i'm at home.

use a benedril cream when you get a rash.
Reply:your skin needs moisturised because the heating is on we are well clad with all our woollies and you need to use cream to keep the skin moist and let it breathe e45 cream or double base after bath or shower will do the trick
Reply:Winter brings on colder weather which tends to be less humid. However, you will still lose water thru sweating and breathing but due to the colder temperatures you don't notice it as much. Start drinking more water. Easy ways to check if you need to drink more water is if your lips start to become chapped. Also if you push one of your fingertips on a table so your fingernail turns red, push on your nail and then release leaving your finger pressed against the table. If the red is slow to return you should increase your water intake. Cortisone cream will help the itching.

Can exercising worsen the itching when you have skin allergies caused by perfume?

before, i had a medical check-up, the doctor diagnosed it as fungus but the said fungus was recurring. i later found out that it isn't fungus but skin allergy. the affected area is very itchy and before i couldn't sleep because of severe itchiness. right now, it is still itchy but i won't touch it because it will just effect to sleepless nights because of itchiness. the doctor said before that I am not allowed to perspire because it will just trigger the itchiness more but that was the same doctor who diagnosed me with fungus "infection"%26lt;-i'm not sure with this term. anyway, does this perspiring also applies to skin allergies?

Can exercising worsen the itching when you have skin allergies caused by perfume?
Skin contact with perfumes can cause a reaction like a rash. Especially when exposed to the sun. When you sweat the pores on the skin open wider and this causes more irritation. So any sweating will cause more discomfort.

Avoid using any type of cologne until the rash disappears completely. Then to avoid recurrence spray the air at clothing level and step into the cologne. This will give you the cologne scent yet, not irritate the skin.

I also have a problem with colognes. Expensive or cheap I will break out wherever the cologne touches my skin. I use the walk through spray application and do not have a problem.
Reply:Thank you! Report It

Reply:Probably, as we sweat when we exercise which would be aggravating your skin further.
Reply:Yes, even for a skin allergy perspiring will irritate the area causing it to itch more. Even something like a misquito bite will become irritated by perspiration.
Reply:Logically, I would think that it would indeed worsen the problem because when you sweat and stuff, it opens your pores up wider, which would make the perfume seep further into your skin. But if you are allergic to perfumes, can't you just switch to hypo-allergenic products? Then you could have some itch-free exercise and not have to worry about it.
Reply:YES.. i got a perm about 10 years ago and had a severe reaction. Ever since then, i get hives and have very sensitve skin to almost everything. Zyrtec really helps me with the itchiness. But I noticed several years ago that when I perspire I break out worse. My doc told me that since my skin is so sensitive i break out from my own sweat. I cant even go for a long walk because the itching is so intense. The only thing that relieves it is a cool shower to wash off all the sweat and after that I am fine. So, Yes, you can definetley develop allergies to your sweat.
Reply:I'm not a doctor, or an expert, but the principle sounds reasonable to me. When you excercise or sweat, your pores are open. If you are reacting to a perfume or fragrance such as the ones added to deodorants and body sprays, the irritant could get into the open pore and have an extra-irritaing effect.

I have burning, itching, and red dry skin around my eyes. It's worst on my eyelids and it's very painful.

I've had this condition once before about a week and a half ago. It gets worse for about 2 days and gets redder, more painful with burning, and my eyes swell. Then it gets so dry my skin peels and then it begins to heal and takes about 3 days to heal. I discontinued using anything that was new after the first painful bout, but now it's back again. What can it be?

I have burning, itching, and red dry skin around my eyes. It's worst on my eyelids and it's very painful.
Because it's around your eyes, and it has re-occurred,you really need to get to your MD's office and have this checked out.It could be several things ,and you shouldn't put just any medicines around the eyes, there too important to risk your sight. Take care. SW RNP
Reply:Sounds like you might be getting pinkeye or having an alergic reaction to something, go see a doctor. It could be anything from a cleaner at work used on surfaces, to a food alergy, you should go have an alergy test done by your Doctor.
Reply:Leslie,

I have had the same condition and my physician told me to purchase some Cortisone 10 ointment and apply it to the affected areas. The itching and peeling stopped about 3 days later. I believe it is due to the change of weather and then rubbing our eyes, which makes it worsen.
Reply:could be an allergy to something outside, or at work. call your doctor make sure. one call wont hurt to ask someone that really knows what they are doing.
Reply:You have dermatitis. It could be eczema or psoriasis the condition frequently starts as you describe. Only a dermatologist can give you a diagnosis. See your doctor there are prescription medications that can treat this - but, because results vary so widely, you must see a doctor and get a prescription. A good doctor will find you the right treatment.

This is not an allergy and it is not just dry skin. See a dermatologist.
Reply:Go see a doctor!
Reply:I'm not so sure.... maybe a rash or just irritation. try vaseline overnite and since your eyes will be closed... don't wory about it getting in your eyes. good luck!!
Reply:hmmm, think it might be dry eye, i saw it on tv 2 nights ago, forgot what they said to do but goin on the computer makes it worse i think, hope i helped
Reply:Vitamin E oil can be applied to the affected skin or a Vitamin E capsule can be broken and directly applied on the affected area.More cheap and natural remedies for itching at the link below.

My dog keeps itching and biting her skin, what can I do since the vet's advice isn't working?

Is there an at home remedy? She has dry skin and it was recommended by the vet that I put medicine in her food before she eats (it's in a squirt bottle and just saturates the top layer of food).

*How long would it take for fish oil to start working?

My dog keeps itching and biting her skin, what can I do since the vet's advice isn't working?
First, I would see adifferent vet. Second, look at what you are feeding her. Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. "Vet approved" means they have a vet on staff to approve their product. In other words, someone paid to approve it. Same with foods most vets recommend. Salesmen "gift" vets then the vet recommends the food. Most vets are not nutritionists! Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. If you want to learn more check out: http://www.sagekeep.com/petfood.htm www.api4animals.org/facts?p=359%26amp; more=1 http://animalark.eapps.com/animal/PetFoo...

Third, fish oil will probably help some but it takes weeks...
Reply:It may take about two weeks before the medication starts to work. In the mean time, try an oatmeal bath (made for dogs that you can pick up at a pet supply store) every great once in a while or a hydrocorisone spray made for dogs.

Its going to take a while before she's completely healed. She may even start to itch more as any open sores start to heal up. Just keep with the treatment and try these or other anti itch stuff to keep it under control in the mean time.
Reply:put and e-collar on her, so she cant reach those area, they are the big cone shaped things that go around there necks my dog had to have one. that way they cant bite, but the can still scratch with her legs. they sell them at local petstores usually, or you can order it online
Reply:Hi,

I don't know if this will work on your dog, try rubbing some olive oil on his body. It's edible and maybe it will stop the itching, I rubbed some on my pet and his hair stopped from flying around the house. good Luck
Reply:Add a table spoon of veg oil to their food each nite... works great... even stopped my sheperd from shedding so much...
Reply:every dog i have had has this problem. Its very common this time of year. I never had much luck with the fish oils. My vet give my German shepherd a cortisone shot and some antibiotics. They can get pretty bad on him in one day. I am very vigilant about checking him regularly.

I also bath him in "Tar" shampoo from Walgreen's as well as dandruff shampoo every 2 weeks. Tar is medicinal. like for dandruff and eczema in people too.

CHECK WITH YOUR VET 1st, but it is common to give dogs over the counter benidryl like for colds. Its an anti histamine for itching. A milligram per pound is recommended. They come in 25 ml pills and the cheap ones work just as well. It the dyphenhydromine (sp) in it.
Reply:Try changing her food all together.Feeding something like Solid Gold, Canidae, etc. is better for them as there is no corn in their products. Corn is one of the ingerdients that can cause allergies in dogs. One of my eskies was always biting and scratching the base of his tail near his back. He got to the point that when we took him to the vet he had a localized infection from scratching. Once I switched them over to Solid Gold he no longer is scratching and biting. I have seen wonderful changes in all 3 of my eskies since switching them! Changes from how their coats are to their level of activity!
Reply:We have a dog which as itchy skin, it comes and goes. We do not give him medicine as I do not believe in giving medicine for non important things, what I do when he starts itching is bath him in the sea every day and it soon goes away, normally in about three days. If you don't live by the sea then I suppose you need to use the stuff the vet has given you but these things take a while to work so you must have patience.Sue
Reply:Did the dog get checked for mites? Are you or any other people/animals in the house itchy? It could be one of two types of mange, demodectic or sarcoptic. The vet should do a skin scraping and check for mites. Sarcoptic mange can be hard to diagnose even with a skin scraping, since the scabies burrow deep into the skin.
Reply:While waiting for the meds to work, get some doggy oatmeal bath for her, wash her every other day till she quits itching...she might be allergic to her dog food, but there is food for sensitive skin...good luck

You may have developed an skin allergy to soap. Change your soap to a more natural product. Also don't use lotion, etc anymore.
Reply:no

it was caused by a change in washing powder.

Def an allergy to somthing
Reply:sounds like heebie-jeebies..... nope don't have 'em
Reply:It could be an allergic reaction or you have bed bugs or fleas. If you can rule out fleas, usually a red bump with a blister in the middle, and you don't have to have a pet to get them. If you walk through grass and walk on the carpet, they latch onto your pants and release themselves on the carpet. Then they can stay dormant until they sense carbon dioxide which is what animals and people breathe out. It's hard to de-flea a place, but check below. Diatomaceous earth is the best natural killer of insects as the microscopic earth is made up of sharp silica which pierces the insect's exoskelteton and it loses all it fluids (dehydrates). You pack it in your furniture, carpeting for a day or two and then vaccuum. Don't put in your sheets as it will make tiny holes. Judging by the bite, I'd say it was probably fleas.
Reply:it sounds like excema to me . this can start anytime of life and with many causes try usingan emolient bath oil and get a cream from chemist or see the doctor before you scratch your skin to bits

Reply:It could be anything... allergies, the sun, contact dermatitis from something in your environment. Try putting some Benadryl spray on it or take a bath with something like Aveeno - it does work. Ice cubes and pressure also work well. Every Spring, my arms itch for a couple weeks. I think it's just seasonal allergies. If you are concerned or if your symptoms get worse, see a doctor.

Why are my multeeses itching so much what do i do to make them stop dry skin?medswhat?
1. Change your dog food to a quality food like Artemis

2. Check for fleas, one dog may be alergicwhile the other isn't. If you find one flea, there are hundreds more. Put salt on your carpet (then vacuum) to kill the fleas in your home, and invest in a food flea medication like Revolution, Advantage, K9 Advantix, or Frontline.

3. If the problem is dry skin, changing to a quality food should remedy the issue in a couple weeks. If you want to further enhance the dog's diet to get the est skin possible, buy a bottle of salmon oil and put a squirt or two onto the dog food once a day.
Reply:Maltese. That is how you spell it.

Check for fleas. Try a better food. See a vet for help.
Reply:for my dog it was itching and some of its hair started falling out but we bought some medical soup and gave the dog a bath with it every 2 weeks and it was fine

It could also be the diet of your dog.

I too had a similar problem, however it wasn't related to his diet but rather allergies and the flakes were a result of mild case of hot spots. We too tried every shampoo on the market, even going to dog shows and trying all of the alternatives that they had. What actually cleared everything up was when we finally just tried 'head and shoulders' dandruff shampoo for humans. Pert plus works well too. He has never had a flaky skin since, and any chance of actual hot spots is gone too. I've provided a link below that goes into more detail regarding diet and allergies that can cause it but I would certainly give Head and shoulders a try!
Reply:might be allergies. Try swtching food to something with Lamb and Rice or Duck and oatmeal (Eagle Pack and California Natural are a good brands). Make the switch gradual. Start with 3/4 of their regular food and 1/4 of new food, then 1/2 and 1/2 , then 3/4 new and 1/4 old food until completely switched. This will help ou to avoid stomach probs.

I'm sunburned a little bit, and how can I get my skin to stop itching and hurting?

I've already tried putting lotion on and it's not helping please help :( thanks

I'm sunburned a little bit, and how can I get my skin to stop itching and hurting?
Take an advil (if you can), plenty of water, and get some aloe gel. Aloe is refreshing and is used for sunburn. You will find many brands that have aloe gels (Banana boat, for example).
Reply:Try aloe vera gel or you can ask your pharmacist and he or she can tell you the best thing to use.
Reply:Vinegar takes the burn out then a lotion with Aloe. been there done that.
Reply:try putting on some aloe gel. you can get it from the plant itself or from the store in a bottle. also, when it itches really badly, try anti hystamine pills.
Reply:Lotion is the worst thing you can put on a sunburn....it just makes it dry out and itch more. Get some aloe vera...you can find it at any grocery store or a place like Target, Wal-Mart, Eckerds, etc. I sunburn very easily as i'm a redhead and this has come in handy so many times. You will feel relief right away. Good luck!!!
Reply:Use aloe vera it will instantly take the pain and itching away. I used it all last summer and it works like a charm. :) GTood luck , I hope you feel better.

What is the best cure for bite of dust mite??? my skin is badly itching.?

Hydrocortizone cream. It's an anti-itch, anti-inflammatory cream, and it works wonders. You can buy it in the pharmacy section of any store like Walgreens or Wal-mart, and it only costs a couple of bucks. You can even get the cheap kind, just look at the ingredients and make sure it says "hydrocortizone."

Which natural remedy can be used for a cat with skin erruptions and itching?

It really depends on the cause.

It could be a number of things - I suggest you see your vet to give a cause. If you explain that you want a natural remedy, there are vets who specialise in this area, and they will probably be able to sort something out for you.

If the cause is fleas, pennyroyal oil is a natural remedy. However, it should not be used if the pet or any other living creature in the house is pregnant. Dilute a few drops of pennyroyal oil in a carrier oil (eg olive oil) and rub through the coat. Also wash all bedding in hot water, and clean the carpet and furniture with steam (to try and kill eggs). Diatomaceous earth (available from garden centres) can also help reduce flea numbers. If your cat goes outside, this should be used in places she rests outside to kill fleas and flea eggs.

It could also be mange (especially if your cat has contact with foxes, wombats, skunks, etc). Not much you can do for this except to see a vet, there aren't any natural remedies and it will make your cat very uncomfortable. It can also affect people!

Another possible cause is ringworm, which is a fungal infection, not a worm. Some people say that tea-tree oil is a good antifungal natural remedy, but it's poisonous if they lick it off, so I would suggest using a tea-tree oil bath liquid and make sure to rinse well. I have not found tea-tree to be particularly effective as an antifungal, however.

Another possible cause is bacterial skin infection. Manuka honey has antibacterial activity, but could be very messy to apply. Once again, I would suggest seeing your vet for a solution here.

Oatmeal, fuller's earth, seaweed gels and aloe vera are generally soothing compounds, and also good for dry skin. However, I would be more concerned to find out what the underlying cause is and treat that.

Don't be tempted to use garlic. It is poisonous for cats.

Reply:Vinager in his/her water. 1 teaspoon to 2 quarts.
Reply:please try oatmeal this will help . also be sure to treat your cat for fleas. most cats are allergic to fleas

Good Luck
Reply:Take that poor thing to a vet. How would you like to have that going on with your body? If you can't afford to take it to the vet for care it deserves find it a loving home that will.
Reply:I know it's hard, but BATHE them in a salt water. Take about 2 cups of warm water, and about 4 tablespoons of water, ( if you are using a tub, just measure it out) pour it over the itchy spots. They will thank you. What do humans do for a really sore throat? Gargle w/ salt water!!
Reply:For wounds on my kittens, I use tea tree oil, very little though, it goes along way. A good way to get rid of dry itchy skin, as long as its not a severe medical condition would be to add a bit of vegetable oil to the kitty's food. It will moisturize skin from the inside out.

If it's itching, you might want to get it looked at and make sure it's not cancer.
Reply:if it bothers you yes I would

Reply:If you dont have money for the doctor I know I have see pamlets that show pictures of what can be cancer and what is safe. I think they were at the front office of my doctor...if not you should get checked out. One doctor bill is better the letting is spread and eventually causing more damage of death.

I have breakouts all over body thickness of the skin and severe itching i am looking for natural products.?
Sounds like you should go in to a doctor and see what it is. There may be something you can take to help you. It may also be a reaction to something. I have eczema and it sounds a lot like what you are talking about. It bleeds if you scratch it but you can't help it. I get it when I'm under a lot of stress, or sometimes it seems when I'm around certain animals. There are creams you can put on it, like diaper rash creams and such, read the lables. You can go into CVS or a store like it and they can tell you what to try. There is also a pill you can take that may help. Good luck.

My Shih Tzu has been to the Vet and gets allergy/steriod shots once a month. I hate to think about what the steriods are doing to him. I have used oatmeal shampoo, the results are good but short-lived.The vet said to try 1/2 of a Benadryl tablet, it isn't working. Help me!!

This seems like it may have some new ideas for you. Hope it helps.
Reply:Benylin Junior Grape Antihystamine Pills.....they are for kids but they work perfectly on my 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier. She is allergic to grass!!! We disguise it in a treat......a piece of meat.....bacon......donut something like that and she feels better and stops scratching and is less pink within 30 minutes.
Reply:Change it's food, add some salmon oil to it's food. Dont bathe it so frequently. Could be a number of things.

Changing the food to a HIGH QUALITY (low grain) food is probably your best bet. Your dog may be allergic to wheat/grains.

Reply:Has the vet ever tried to figure out what is causing the skin problems? Many dogs have food allergies that mainfest as skin irritation, hair loss, and general itchiness. If you suspect a food allergy, you can try her on a trial of a prescription diet from your vet (Eukanuba's fish %26amp; potato is a good one, they also make a line that's kangaroo %26amp; oat, for extra tough cases; Hills and others have prescription diets for food allergies as well). Food allergies can develop over time, so even if your dog has been on the same food all her life, this could still be the cause. The hard thing with a food trial is that she has to eat only the prescription food for at least six weeks (that means no treats, no food she finds on the floor, etc.) to know if it really works. But, if it does, it's better for her in the long run; and you may be able to add back in limited treats and see how she reacts to them; special lines of treats are available also.

Her problem could also be inhalant related (such as pollens) or contact related, caused by fabrics she sits/sleeps on. Finding the cause of the allergy is the first step. You're right that steroids are not a good long-term solution, due to the damage they cause to the immune system, but in some cases even when the cause is found, steroids are still needed to help.
Reply:I've been through this with 2 of my cats for years. I know you have a dog but all of the same things apply more or less when it comes to allergies. Does the dog itch mainly around its head and neck? If so have the vet check its ears. They swab them with a q-tip and look under a microscope for infection. The cat that was the worst off (she had to wear and e collar for months - it was awful) has been doing beautifully ever since they did the test and she started ear drops. The test was like 30 bucks and another 10 or so for the drops. We only had to use them for 2 weeks. She has been looking great for almost 2 months now.

If it is an all over thing you may be dealing with a food allergy. Unfortunately this is VERY expensive to treat. You can only get the special food that they need at the vets. It's like $20 for a small bag. But it is better then the shots. The steroid shot does liver damage and will take a few years off of your dog’s life. I have a cat that gets it every other month for asthma. The pills didn't work for her so it became a question of quality of life over quantity. You did try the steroid pill on the dog right? It is a little less damaging to the system.

The other thing to look at is flea allergies. They kept telling us that was the problem for a long time. Try bombing your house and use frontline on the dog the same day. If he improves that is probably it. If not don't beat your head against the wall about the flea allergy like we did. It's something else.

Your last option is to get a referral to a veterinary dermatologist. It is expensive but they can tell you exactly what the dog is allergic too which will make it much easier to treat.

Good luck! There should be another effective method out there. I know how frustrating it is to see the little things suffer and not know how to help.
Reply:I believe they do allergy testing for dogs. This would let you identify the allergen/s and then it should be easier to address by knowing what the allergen is. If you've already done this and this is what they are getting the shot for, sorry I have no clue. Allergies are very tough to get a handle on.
Reply:Did you try changing the dog's food? There are some nasty dog foods out there.
Reply:Did you try eliminating certain foods. My American Staff, cannot have chicken, and now we are investigating a possible allergy to the Advantage Multi flea treatments.
Reply:I have a cairn terrier with allergy problems. Each spring and fall me goes berzerk scratching. Yes, I have take him to the vet. My vet will only give him 1 or 2 steroid shots per year. According to her, the shots cause liver problems in dogs...and my dog is young. She suggested an allergy test. We spend $150.00. The test showed everything he was allergic to, with oak as the worst. Great, huh--we have a Huge big oak tree in our back yard. The test results were interesting though. They can create vials of medicine to give him, based on his individual allergies. This was supposed to build up a resistance to those things he was allergic to. Yes, that was an additional $150.00. We had to gradually give him doses of the serum......each couple of days increasing the dosage. It didn't work, in fact he got worse with the scratching.

The vet gave me some little purple pills (no not nexium) to give him. It helps somewhat. I don't over bathe him, it tends to dry his skin out. Like you, I do use the oatmeal shampoos. I have used Avon Skin So Soft dabbed on cotton balls and massaged it into his skin on his belly. And, I've give him a small dose of children's liquid benadryl.

The vet even suggested special 'natural' dog food. But warned me it is very expensive and that I couldn't give him treats or table scrapes--that would defeat the purpose. I did keep him on that a couple of months. But, I use Science Diet for sensitive skin for dogs now.

Evidently these allergies are not uncommon for small breed dogs. Good luck!
Reply:Put a tablespoon of canola oil in with your dog food when you feed once per week. The extra fat in the diet will impact the skin and hair. It really works. There are plenty of other methods you can try also. Most vets treat everything with medication because that is what they do, but as most things there are alternatives.
Reply:Shi tu's are prone to skin allergies. Ask your vet what you can do to make the dog more comfortable. Sometimes switching their food helps when they have bad allergies because they could be allergic to something there eating.
Reply:Is this dog getting annual vaccinations?

People who have allergies have high IgE levels. Dogs have been tested and found to have very high IgE levels.

Vaccinations are good for many, many years and do not need to be repeated. See the Wisconsin University weblink

I need information on Shih Tzu skin problems and itching.?

We just adopted a seven year old Shih Tzu. She is spayed and a very sweet dog. She licks and scratches too much and hurts herself. What can I do to help her out. I am a first time owner of a Shih Tzu

I need information on Shih Tzu skin problems and itching.?
My dog had this when we first got him. He scratched so much that he had sores all over his body. We took him to the vet and she presribed him with steroids and a shampoo called Malaseb. I don't know if you can but this over the counter but my advice would be ask your vet or buy your dog a special shampoo. Hope I could help!
Reply:Wash her with an anti-itch shampoo for dogs. Also, make sure she doesn't have fleas or mites. Get Frontline or a comparable product from the Vet to take for fleas, ticks, etc. If she has a raw spot that is healing, it will itch. You can buy skin cooling spray for dogs. My Mom has a shih-tzu and used it on her when she was spayed, to keep her from biting and licking her stitches. You can find the shampoo and spray anywhere that pet care products are sold.
Reply:She could have fleas or allergies. If she has allergies and you use flea medicine she could aggravate her skin even more. Go to your local pet store that allows you to take the dog in with you and ask them; IF you can't afford a vet bill already.. Or call the animal shelter where you got her from and see if they gave her a flea treatment that she may be allergic to!! ...............Good luck
Reply:What is the back ground on the dog? did she scratch and itch before coming to your house? could be food allergies?

Reply:Could be allergies to anything. Could also be reactions to vaccines given by whoever you got her from. Please check out new recommendation for dogs and cats. Also see reactions from Duke University.
Reply:i would suggest a vet first. then look at what you are feeding her. poor quality foods will cause itching. for a good quality food check out animalark.eapps.com/animal/PetFoods.nsf/ click on dogfoodsbyrating
Reply:i have a shitzu, he used to scratch alot until we took him to a groomer and shaved his coat down to about an inch long, also if there is matting that will cause hot spots which are very painful and irritating, also if you bathe him too often that can very easily dry out his skin. you need to find the source of the irritation then address the problem....if you dont know it's safer to take him to a vet
