Why are my multeeses itching so much what do i do to make them stop dry skin?medswhat?
1. Change your dog food to a quality food like Artemis

2. Check for fleas, one dog may be alergicwhile the other isn't. If you find one flea, there are hundreds more. Put salt on your carpet (then vacuum) to kill the fleas in your home, and invest in a food flea medication like Revolution, Advantage, K9 Advantix, or Frontline.

3. If the problem is dry skin, changing to a quality food should remedy the issue in a couple weeks. If you want to further enhance the dog's diet to get the est skin possible, buy a bottle of salmon oil and put a squirt or two onto the dog food once a day.
Reply:Maltese. That is how you spell it.

Check for fleas. Try a better food. See a vet for help.
Reply:for my dog it was itching and some of its hair started falling out but we bought some medical soup and gave the dog a bath with it every 2 weeks and it was fine
Reply:It could be mites or fleas. Be sure to have him/her checked for them. Some good info on both issues can be found here:

It could also be the diet of your dog.

I too had a similar problem, however it wasn't related to his diet but rather allergies and the flakes were a result of mild case of hot spots. We too tried every shampoo on the market, even going to dog shows and trying all of the alternatives that they had. What actually cleared everything up was when we finally just tried 'head and shoulders' dandruff shampoo for humans. Pert plus works well too. He has never had a flaky skin since, and any chance of actual hot spots is gone too. I've provided a link below that goes into more detail regarding diet and allergies that can cause it but I would certainly give Head and shoulders a try!
Reply:might be allergies. Try swtching food to something with Lamb and Rice or Duck and oatmeal (Eagle Pack and California Natural are a good brands). Make the switch gradual. Start with 3/4 of their regular food and 1/4 of new food, then 1/2 and 1/2 , then 3/4 new and 1/4 old food until completely switched. This will help ou to avoid stomach probs.
