My dog has has red skin and keeps itching her fur i dont know what to do?
BEEN THERE !!! I know a great website for dog itchies where you can do some reading and look thru the home remedies . Its below...
Reply:Could be a form of mange but sometimes fleas will cause them to scratch causing the redening.
Reply:Sounds like mange to me but could be something else. You need to take your dog to a vet.
Reply:Best thing is to take your dog to the vet to make sure it is not a serious medical problem.

It is hard to say how to treat it whithout knowing a cause.

It could be food allergies. Check the ingredients on the food you feed. Corn, wheat, soy, and by-products are common ingredients for your dog to be allergic to. Some dogs also have chicken allergies.

It could be environmental. Have you used flea treatment reciently? Could your dog have gotten into any chemicals? Pesticides?

It could also be fleas or mange.

There are anti-itch sprays and creams for dogs, but these won't help long term. You need to figure out the cause in order to help heal the problem.
Reply:Go to the Drug store and get a Flea Collar!! Or it could be dry skin dogs do get it!! Or it could be something from a walk today it rubbed against or swimmers itch from some nasty water it swam in???

But it could be flea's and you should check for them do a google search to see what they look like and see!! The poor dogs is porbably in misery right now!! ALso so you know if it is flea's you will have to wash everything in your home and you can get them on you as well!!
Reply:allergy maybe?
Reply:if you have any allergy pills in the house give it one. Your dog has allergies, to what, who knows. We have to give our dog Benedryl and when severe, perscription meds. You may need to make the dog a peanut butter sandwich to hide the pill in to make it easier for you to give the pill.
Reply:Sounds like an allergy. Is it on her face and front? Feed only dog food with no dairy in it. The most common cause is dairy products, the skin around the mouth, eyes and down the neck and chest will turn red and they will be very itchy.

A vet should check it out and could give you an antihistamine for the dog, DONT just give it one yourself.
Reply:most likely your dog has rubbed against a plant or something he or she is allergic to..

There really is no quick treatment ring you vet he will tell u to come in and he will check and give you something to put on it..

DONT TRY YOUR OWN THINGS IT MIGHT MAKE IT WORSE , THATS WHY A VET IS THERE
Reply:It could be a hundred reasons why she does that.

The only way to find what causes it is to bring her to the vet-they will take a skin sample and analyze it. They may also have to test her for allergies.

Even if there was a top vet on here, they wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what the problem is over the internet.
