I shaved and now my skin is costantly itching and its aggrevating, why?

my vaginal area

I shaved and now my skin is costantly itching and its aggrevating, why?
You may have razor burn. If the itchiness is too close to your vagina, then use an anti-itch creme like vagasil to relieve the pain and itching. If the itching is more around your bikini area, then use lotion and hydrocortisone to relieve the pain and itching.

Make sure to shave with shaving creme (probably for sensitive skin) and use a brand new razor. Dull razors lead to more razor burn.
Reply:if you just shaved its probably razor burn. if its been a few days then its because the hair is growing back or your getting in grown hairs
Reply:Oh thats normall. Did you shave abpout a day or 2 or 3 ago? It could be just a little dry or sometimes there can be a few ingrown hairs (they dont hurt or nothing) You may notice you get little red dots after you scratch. Thats ok, try to stop scratching and put a little bit of moisturiser on there. You will find it will stop with in the next couple of days.
Reply:Get some diaper cream like desitin and use it freely. It will take the irritation away. I use it every time I shave before i get a chance to break out

Anyone know of skin conditions and odd itching conditions?

seriously asking here..i have a friend with a condition that she has this uncontrollable itch. supposedly its linked to when she drank some milk formula as a baby and now older, has an itch condition. the doctor only prescribes creams for temporary relief such as Goldbond and stuff. Itching occurs around the legs, but also migrated to the shoulders and such. Does anybody here know anything about this at all or anything related? I would like to do research on it to help, but I wouldn't know what to begin searching for............

Anyone know of skin conditions and odd itching conditions?

Reply:sounds like eczema its a bugger is that. a doctor will help sort the correct creas out

My has very dry skin and shes itching terribly, the vet said use vegitable oil in her food...?

i was wondering if anyone had any other remedies or solutions for this problem? shes so itchy and flaky.

My has very dry skin and shes itching terribly, the vet said use vegitable oil in her food...?
I assume you mean a Dog?

As dogs age they cannot excrete protein in their urine so it builds up in the body and the first warning sign, dog starts to itch. At that point you need to put the dog on a low protein food, the lowest you can find and you will see the improvement.
Reply:My moms dog is also very itchy and uncomfortable. her vet said she could be allergic to corn, which is in alot of pet foods, and isn't good for any dog apparently. He also told her to put fish oil in her food, or just give her a capsule every day. AND try using distilled water instead of the stuff that comes out of the tap. hope some of this helps your poor pooch!
Reply:dog?

yeah, i was told to rub oil or something on mine. he's a boston terrier with dandruff
Reply:Dry skin problems respond well to self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. If you have very dry and scaly skin, your doctor may recommend you use an over-the-counter cream that contains lactic acid or lactic acid and urea.

In a more serious skin disease, such as ichthyosis or psoriasis, your doctor may prescribe prescription creams and ointments or other treatments in addition to home care.

Dry skin leads to dermatitis, which causes red, itchy skin. In these cases, treatment may include hydrocortisone-containing lotions. If your skin cracks open, your doctor may prescribe wet dressings with mildly astringent properties to contract your skin and reduce secretions and prevent infection.

What is mechanism of skin to cause itching, after scraching ,y?it subsides?after taking medicine how it relieve

Histamine is a substance that is produced in the body in allergy to various factors. This causes blebs and rash that itch.Scrathing crushes the bleb or rash and Histamine gets into blood to be metabolised.Drugs called Antihistaminics prevent Histamine from causing any itching.

Is this an accurate hypothesis? itching is the result of deformities in dying skin cells with mutated receptor

is this an accurate hypothesis? itching is the result of deformities in dying skin cells with mutated heat/touch/cold receptors

Is this an accurate hypothesis? itching is the result of deformities in dying skin cells with mutated receptor
The hypothesis is not accurate as stated. If you deleted the word 'cells' from the statement, then it would be a more accurate hypothesis based on what is known about the types of cells that occur in the skin. Skin cells are usually equated with epidermal cells, which do not have sensory receptors. However, the skin (as a tissue) is composed of several types of cells, some of which are nerve cells embedded in various layers of the skin.

The skin over my toes seem to almost constantly be itching..sometimes even feels like its on the inside?

i am diabetic...sugar isnt in control...feet seem kinda dry but not bad...the itching is severe sometimes even feels like it is under the skin....nothing seems to help

The skin over my toes seem to almost constantly be itching..sometimes even feels like its on the inside?
could be althletes foot, a fungal infection, get a cream from the pharmacy, you should also see your doctor especially since you are diabetic.
Reply:Have you consulted a podiatrist?
Reply:Could be athletes foot. OK well rottie already said that.

Listen to'em LOL
Reply:Try some lotion. Your skin could just be dry. If that doesn't help, call your doctor.
Reply:Have you gone to a foot store and that foot powder realy helps and the lotion! It realy works!
Reply:It's a normal reaction for diabetes patients. Try to take Reishi.

I have the supplier's web.
Reply:Ignore these other answers and get yourself to your doctor. If your sugar is out of control, you may be headed for diabetic neuropathy which has long term effects and even a loss of toes or foot.

Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy affects the nerves in your arms, hands, legs, and feet.

This type of neuropathy damages nerves in the arms and legs. The feet and legs are likely to be affected before the hands and arms. Many people with diabetes have signs of neuropathy upon examination but have no symptoms at all. Symptoms of peripheral neuropathy may include

numbness or insensitivity to pain or temperature

a tingling, burning, or prickling sensation

sharp pains or cramps

extreme sensitivity to touch, even a light touch

loss of balance and coordination

These symptoms are often worse at night.

Peripheral neuropathy may also cause muscle weakness and loss of reflexes, especially at the ankle, leading to changes in gait (walking). Foot deformities, such as hammertoes and the collapse of the midfoot, may occur. Blisters and sores may appear on numb areas of the foot because pressure or injury goes unnoticed. If foot injuries are not treated promptly, the infection may spread to the bone, and the foot may then have to be amputated. Some experts estimate that half of all such amputations are preventable if minor problems are caught and treated in time.
Reply:I don't know what to do for you. You might have Restless Leg Syndrome or Athletes Foot. But to be safe, knowing your diabetic, go to an EXPERIENCED doctor ASAP.

Good Luck!

NOTE:

THE ONE ABOVE ME IS A RELY GOOD ANSWER TOO!
Reply:that is because you are a diabetic see your dr.
Reply:could be athletes foot. It is caused when the feet get wet and have to sit in it for awhile. I would go to the doctor because with diabetes, you don't want to mess with the feet or eyes, you could go blind or lose the feet if your diabetes get out of control. i know it is a hard disease to live with, but you seem to control it well. Especially when you ask questions. Good luck

My skin is always itching and when i scratch?

i come up in these big welts every where, my scalp and arms and torso are mostly effected its driving me mad what could it be.

My skin is always itching and when i scratch?
Yes, its definitely not good to scratch! Try taping oven mitts to your hands like Phoebe in Friends!
Reply:Allergy, they are called hives from an allergic reaction. Try not to scratch. Take an antihistamine like benadryl. If it's serious seek medical attention.
Reply:the welts are called hives. you have allergic reaction to something or you are having a stress reaction. go to dermatologist.
Reply:your skin may be dry; if so apply something that will help the dryness. If you keep scratching you can cause more problems.
Reply:this happens to me also for me it is stress
Reply:Rather than scratch try dabbing, its not as good but can be effective. Go and see you r gp and they are more likely to give you the correct anti histamine, or go and see the chemist they should be good for advice.
Reply:It sounds as though you have an allergy. If it is on your head and body I wouldn't think that it was a body cream. You should go to the doctors and have an allergy test done. Good luck, it must feel awful.
Reply:It sounds like an allergy to something. The welts are a result of a histamine reaction in your skin. So to relieve the itching take an antihistamine, Benedryl or Zirtec. Don't scratch as the heat you impart from scratching will make it worse. Try and analyse what you were eating or what was the common factor when the reaction starts, as it could be food or surroundings that causes your reaction.
Reply:My sister had an itching skin for ages and no doctor could tell her what it was. Then after another blood-test they found out she has some kind of fungus (in her stomac, I think) which then transfers into her blood and causes the itching skin. She is now on some kind of diet and I think takes medicine (not quite sure what).

I'd suggest you go see a doctor and have a blood test done.
Reply:Sounds like scabies, hives. you really need to see your family doctor.
Reply:hi love it could be shingles or something best to see doctor
Reply:hiya it could be scabies am sorry to say ! must go see your GP
Reply:Yeah me too.

I'm trying to cut out dairy as this makes skin conditions worse. It usually happens when I am tired, so I think it is stress.

I have also changed my washing powder! Haven't put everything through yet though! Will keep you posted if I find a cure!

Don't worry though, Don't think it's serious.
Reply:several things............... woolly jumpers, soap residue, crabs, lobsters, its endless. Give it the cold water treatment, after taking a shower and making sure you wash off all the soap, grit your teeth and turn off the hot water, take the neat cold stuff for as long as you can (10 seconds) then dry by patting rather than scrubbing with a towel.... Best of luck and if you are male, take care with the cold water, it makes things vanish.............

My skin around the genitals is darkening, itching and irritating...?

Black pigmentation on inner thighs that is very itchy and bothersome.

My skin around the genitals is darkening a lot and it itches to where I wish I could scratch with something sharp to cut it all off. It is very dry and ugly. What is happening? How can I keep this from happening and make this go away? My gf says that s the rubbing of my legs what is causing it, I'd say it is the underwear. What do you think? My legs do rub; however, I can't make them not rub. What can I apply to avoid this friction? Will that back color ever go away? Should I use poweder or lotions? Which ones?

My skin around the genitals is darkening, itching and irritating...?
Well, friction of thighs together can cause irritation and darkning, but never itching and by the way u discribed ur itch i think u have fungal infection cause it causes a horrible itch.

I'm not trying to be rude, but is ur penis itchy too??

IF YES, then u need to ask ur partner if she has yeast infection.

U NEED TO GET TREATED BOTH OF U.
Reply:The itching is never satisfied and is it kinda moist, by moist I mean in the Creases of your thighs in your Genital area, yet the area is also dry? Does it have a 'slight' odor? (I don't mean anything 'funky' or insult your personal hygiene).

Try "Gold Bond" powder but, your 'best' bet would be talk to a Male Pharmacist or try any of the "jock Itch" products for Athletes, out there. It sounds like a 'severe' case of "Jock Itch". You don't have to be an Athelete to get it..........b-t-w Men can get 'Yeast Infections" , also!

I hate to sound like a Commercial but, if it persists, see a Doctor, it's common. Been there, HAD that in my early 20's........"Jock Itch" cream did the deed!

GOOD LUCK!!

Skin problem with itching of the skin and scales. since 7 months , now swelling of the feet and feet cracking
This is a medical problem that my grandfather had. I can not remember the medical name but I do know that Vitamin E OIL helps to heal the broken skin, and the dryness. When I have any broken skin I alwys buy the vitamin E oil from CVS Pharmacy. They have 5,000 and 10,000 International Units. The 10,000 IU is too thick to use. Buy a small bottle of the 5,000 IU. It works GREAT! It helps me to heal and I am a 40 year diabetic. Have a great holiday!!

Hives and angioedema

Hives or urticaria are red, itchy, swollen areas of the skin that can range in size and appear anywhere on the body. Approximately 25% of the U.S. population will experience an episode of hives at least once in their lives. Most common are acute cases of hives, where the cause is identifiable-often a viral infection, drug, food or latex. These hives usually go away spontaneously. Some people have chronic hives that occur almost daily for months to years. For these individuals, various circumstances or events, such as scratching, pressure or "nerves," may aggravate their hives. However, eliminating these triggers often has little effect on this condition.

Angioedema, a swelling of the deeper layers of the skin, sometimes occurs with hives. Angioedema is not red or itchy, and most often occurs in soft tissue such as the eyelids, mouth or genitals. Hives and angioedema may appear together or separately on the body. Hives are the result of a chemical called histamine -responsible for many of the symptoms of allergic reactions-in the upper layers of the skin. Angioedema results from the actions of these chemicals in the deeper layers of the skin. These chemicals are usually stored in our bodies' mast cells, which are cells heavily involved in allergic reactions. There are several identifiable triggers that release histamine and other chemicals from the mast cells, causing hives.

In adults, reactions to medicines are a common cause of acute hives. Medications known to cause hives or angioedema include aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, high blood pressure medicines known as ACE-inhibitors, or pain-killers containing codeine or codeine-like drugs. Like all drug-induced hives, these reactions occur within only minutes to an hour of taking the drug. Adults can also develop hives after eating certain foods, including nuts, eggs, shellfish, soy, wheat or milk-the culprits in more than 90% of proven food-induced hives. In children, foods or viral infections such as a cold can trigger acute hives. Physical urticaria are hives resulting from an outside source: rubbing of the skin, cold, heat, physical exertion or exercise, pressure or direct exposure to sunlight. Patients with chronic urticaria often report that at least one of these triggers induces their hives.

Whenever there is an identifiable trigger of hives, it should be eliminated. In patients with acute hives, some drugs or foods may take days to be eliminated from the body. For these individuals, an allergist may prescribe antihistamines to relieve symptoms until the culprit is eliminated. For patients with chronic hives, treatment cannot control the eruptions; these hives will eventually disappear on their own, with or without treatment. For 50% of these patients, the hives will clear in three to 12 months; 40% will clear in one to five years. Up to 1.5% of these patients may experience these hives for more than 20 years.

Forty percent of patients with chronic hives will have at least one more episode of chronic hives in their lifetime. For these patients, the treatment objective is to provide comfort. If you experience chronic hives, your allergist will prescribe antihistamines, and will combine medications and adjust your dosages as needed for your individual symptoms. In rare cases, if antihistamines do not provide appropriate comfort, the allergist will prescribe an oral corticosteroid.

Reply:Scabies is another contagious skin disease caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. The primary symptom -- incredibly itchy, red lesions -- results when the female mite burrows into the skin and deposits eggs and feces. Closed environments such as nursing homes and child-care centers provide ideal breeding grounds for the parasite, which needs a human host to survive. An estimated 300 million new cases spring up each year worldwide. The number of cases in the United States is currently on the rise, probably because more children under the age of 5 are being cared for in day-care centers.

Head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) are about the size of a sesame seed and can be easily seen, although they hide quickly in response to light. Their eggs, called nits, are barely visible, whitish ovals cemented to hair shafts. Head lice are extremely contagious, especially among schoolchildren. They afflict an estimated 6 million to 12 million children in the United States. Twice as many girls as boys get head lice, not because of greater hair length, but because girls have more physical contact with one another and share more personal articles (hats, clothing, combs, headphones) that can transmit head lice. Head lice are rare among African-Americans, possibly because the shafts of their hair have a shape that lice cannot grasp easily.

Pubic lice (Phthirius pubis) are yellow-gray insects found in the pubic region and transmitted by sexual contact. The size of a pinhead, they are slightly translucent and barely visible against light-colored skin. They are also called crab lice, or crabs, because of their shape and the crab-like claws with which they cling to hair. Eggs can barely be seen as tiny white particles glued so firmly to hair shafts that they are not removed by normal washing.

Body lice (Pediculus humanus corporis) are nearly identical in appearance to head lice but are more difficult to find. When not feeding, they tend to hide in the seams of clothing and folds of bedding. Signs of their presence are scratch marks, hives, or small red pimples, usually on the shoulders, torso, or buttocks. If the lice are not treated, the person can develop complications such as bacterial infection of the affected area. Body lice can also spread blood infections.

Hope This Helped
Reply:do not scratch...it will only make it worse....can you get an antihistamine where you are? If so I would recommend "claritn."..you take 1 every 24 hours...good luck and hope it helps.
Reply:Try a simple athletes foot cream. I had a similar problem once and that worked.

My ankle was crushed in a small accident. It is continuously itching and skin got thickned. Remedy please?

Itching means its healing. Thickening is not so good, scar tissue. I suggest going to physio. They have this little machine/gizmo thing that does ultrasound and breaks up the scar tissue and helps it all heal better. Worth the extra money. Some plans cover it too.

Don't put anything on it if it's still scabbing etc. you don't want it getting infected. You can ask your doctor what you can use because chances are massaging the skin with something beneficial will help it to stretch and it won't be so itchy...maybe aloe?

My ankle was crushed in a small accident. It is continuously itching and skin got thickned. Remedy please?
Make sure you wash area real good with soup and warm water and then apply either gold bond cream or cortizone cream...at least twice a day. If it just happened not to long ago, the itching is probably from healing.

What can you do to stop itching all over your body, if you have sensitive skin?

I have this problem with itching all over my body. I used to live in the South. Now I am in the North. Total difference! I cannot stop itching. I have really sensitive extra dry skin. I have a problem with finding things I can use that will not irritate my skin. Any suggestions.

What can you do to stop itching all over your body, if you have sensitive skin?
Drink much more water to rehydrate your skin

Get a hypoallergenic, water (not petroleum) based, lotion to apply after a shower.
Reply:Herbal bath teas are great! They can sooth the dryness and correct it at the same time. Lavender flowers and chaomomile work great. DO a little research and come up with your own formula based on what you like. Follow with a nice oil like jojoba or almond and dress for the weather. Do not take hot baths or showers, they dry out the skin

My dog has hair loss, itching, flaky skin around lower back. what could be causing this?

mange! some is contagious, some is not. **there are different types of mange**

it NEEDS treatment. take your dog to the vet and have a skin scraping done, they will tell you what kind of mange it is, and what needs to be done to treat it.

My dog has hair loss, itching, flaky skin around lower back. what could be causing this?
It could be a variety of things. It could be an allergy to something, it could be hormonal, or it could be stress.

Is your dog grooming that area excessively? It might be licking the fur out
Reply:I would take your dog to the Vet and have some tests done to find out the source. I know with my pup, diet was an issue. Make sure you are feeding a high quality food, and verify with your vet that you are doing so. Also, environmental factors can cause itching and flaking of the skin, too frequent bathing, certain shampoos, detergants you are using on his/her bedding, etc. See your vet to try and rule these things out.
Reply:It could be anything from a simple skin irritation, to scabies or mange. I would take the dog to the vet asap to get it checked out. Scabies can be transferred to humans in some cases.
Reply:Corn, wheat, soy, cellulose, beet pulp, by-products~ all of these are allergens found in food. You describe classic food allergy in a dog. Get him a food with non of these in it and it will go away in about 6-8 weeks. good brands are solid gold, timberwolf, Merrick, azmira, wellness etc. just read your labels and you should be able to find a good food. If you need help finding a good food in your area send me an email with the breed type or mix and your state included and I will look around.
Reply:Probably allergies or dry skin. The hair loss and flaky skin is probably from excessive scratching due to the irritation. Take him to the vet for some meds or lotions.
Reply:It is difficult to tell without actually seeing the dog's skin. Often times, this kind of thing is an allergy. In humans, allergies manifest themselves as sneezing, runny nose, etc., while in dogs, allergies often manifest themselves as skin problems. Allergies are very common in dogs. My own dogs have allergies and we see dogs in the vet's office all the time with allergies. It could be a food allergy or an allergy to something in the air, etc. Is he licking his feet also? That is another common sign of allergies in dogs. But skin problems can also be caused by other things, such as low thyroid hormone levels (usually in older dogs) or by stress and anxiety. What you need to do is let your veterinarian see the dog and he will be able to help find the cause. If it's an allergy, the vet will help you work out a plan to figure out what the dog is allergic to. If it is something else, he may do a blood test to check out other possible problems.
Reply:Sounds like allergies to either something in its environment or something it is eating. Please make sure to cut all unnecessary foods out of its diet (like your potato chips) and verify that it is on a high quality dog food. If you make dietary changes, it may take a few weeks to see any improvement. If it does not get better or gets worse, please seek a vet's expertise.
Reply:Sounds like a hotspot, but could be something more serious, like an allergy. My dog had the same problem at the base of her tail (hotspot) and I had read that putting extra virgin olive oil in your dog's food could help with it. So, I started putting 1 tablespoon, sometimes 2 (she is about 45 lbs.) mixed in with her food. I did this for a week and a half and noticed a big difference. She doesn't have flaky skin at all anymore and her hotspot is gone, I also noticed that it helped decrease her shedding. I did that for 2 weeks and now I put it in her food about once a week. I would go to the vet to have it checked out, though.
Reply:mange.or fleas........take it to the vet......................TOP MAN
Reply:Talk to a vet because it could be mange.
Reply:You've just described my sheltie's symptoms exactly. With her, it turned out to be severe allergies. Apparently she's allergic to everything except air- I expect that one to develop within a few years.

It's not a horrific disaster for your dog though. We can control Lily's allergies with benadryl and a steroid shot every three or four months (She can normally get through the winter months with only one shot from September until about February. March through August she has to get about three.) We bathe her regularly in a special shampoo, she's on a special prescription diet, she only eats carrots as treats instead of packaged treats, and she wears clothes that cover up her worst itchy spots. She's an inside dog, so the clothes issue doesn't really present a problem in terms of overheating, but if you've got an outside dog or one that doesn't enjoy prancing around in a t-shirt, I'd skip this step. Maybe one of those cone collars?

I'd take your dog to the vet just to be sure, though.
Reply:Sounds like he has an allergy. My Pom was itching like crazy and we started her on Omega formula one day and mixing fish oil made for dogs with her food the next and she stopped itching pretty fast. You could try that. Both are available on Ebay from Pet products.

My dog has hair loss, itching, flaky skin and bad odor. what could be causing this?

he is a 12lb pekingese.

My dog has hair loss, itching, flaky skin and bad odor. what could be causing this?
I bet anything he is allergic to his food. Corn and Wheat products are the most common causes of skin allergies, read the food label.

The skin is itchy, flakey and the dog scratches for some releif, but damages the skin so that infection can set in. The bad food has weakened his immune system so he can't fight the infection and now, you are looking at a very unhappy dog.

Read "Food Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin if you don't believe me. You will be shocked and amazed.

You need to take him to the vet, he needs antibiotics to cure the skin, then you need to get him on a better food.

Iams, Purina, and Science Diet are all but poison to dogs, read the book if you don't believe me.

Look into Innova, California Natural, Wellness, Artemis, and Canidae. They are all natural and don't contain gross stuff that is making him sick. They are more expensive but it's worth it in the long run. Less vet bills and illness. He may also live longer.

Good Luck

Reply:My dog, which is a ****** spaniel mix has a problem very similar to this. However, I do not have the money for a vet. But I do have a friend who is a vet and she suggested giving her an over the counter vitamin (half a centrum) and two baths a week, always followed by putting triple antibiotic on her skin/fur. I also bought a funnel collar so she could not lick, chew or scratch. It's been a week and really seems to be helping.
Reply:alot of things could be those which one of those things would be bad which is : Mange and one of them is catching to a human and i know this cause i got one yr and or time from a dog i had yrs ago and then i had to go to the doctor and get rid of it cause it made my hands itch alots which wasn't fun. Itching: Is It On The Skin Or Is It In The Mind?

I have heard about people who have unfortunately had to have their arm amputated.

And still have an itchy feeling on this arm. Which does not exist-hence the condition phantom arm.

So is an itch a problem with the skin? Or is it an imaginary itch that the mind is determining.

Thank you for any answers

Itching: Is It On The Skin Or Is It In The Mind?
well.. it's both, If something tickles the sensory nerves on the surface of the skin, the nerve sends an impulse of this stimulation to the brain, then you conciously move your hand to scratch it.

With the amputee's arm itching, its because the nerve endings are stimulated in a specific way to send impulses to your mind, the mind (which is on autopilot because its recieved the same messages a million in its life) then interprets these messages as further down the line and tries to react accordingly.

over time the mind re-configures its nervous impulses to match what it feels to what is happening but there is no immediate cure for it, just another downside to having an amutation.
Reply:yes it is in the mind.
Reply:everything starts with the mind
Reply:both when we get a rash we itch but phantom pain is real because of the nerve endings

My dog keeps itching her skin? What can I give her to help her stop itching?

I use Frontline on her so she doesn't have fleas. She is a Jack Russell and has a little bit of wired hair in her. I went to Petco and got her Oatmeal shampoo, and switched her food to lamb and rice. Is there anything else I can do? She has itched so much on her head that she has spots that have scabs on her.

This is an amazaing supplement%26gt; http://springtimeinc.com/product/88/2

If you read the 'real letters' they are genuine!
Reply:You can try Benedryl or Chlortrimeton, both over-the-counter antihistamines.

Yes, dogs can take these (but don't try experimenting with other household drugs).

See how it works... if her problem is allergies, it might help. If not, take her to the vet.
Reply:It could be dry skin, if you live in a cold climate and it gets worse when the heat comes on that could be it. The heat dries out the air, and our skin as well as our pets. Try putting some form of oil on her food. Even a bit of butter, vit. E oil, tuna oil, anything like that can help.

You Jack Russel is fortunate to have such a thoughtful and concerned owner. Good Luck, I hope this helps.
Reply:You have made all the efforts you can. Consider purchasing a humidifier - it could be the dry air. Just like us they do get dry skin. Also there is a product call linetone it helps with dry itchy skin. Its like a syrup you can put on his food. It has a high contents of linolic acid and efa's to help with the skin.

I'd try not to give any drugs unless absolutely necessary.

Good Luck
Reply:Does your dog have fleas? Is she losing lots of hair? She probably is allergic to fleas. I see it alot at the vet I work for. Some dogs can be covered in them and some one flea will get on them and they start chewing and losing hair. Ask your vet if she should recieve a medicated bath twice a month and maybe a cortizone shot.
Reply:HI

Add some vitamin e to her food I stick a pen in the capsule and drain it onto the food.

Lammy
Reply:The vet can give her a cortizone shot if it just gets too bad; just don't want to do that often. It will help her itch.
Reply:I also have 2 Jack Russells that were scratching like mad. Mine have entirely different coats. I was doing the same thing that you are doing the shampoo, food everything and nothing worked until I took them to the vet and they got a shot. I gave them Benedryl and it helped a little bit, but not like the Vet. They didn't scratch for a long time after that. I know what you are going through as well as your poor pup. Good luck, I hopes that helps.
Reply:We also had a dog which was a jack Russel terrier and if its hot right now it may get a sunburn because that i what happened to ours he got sunburn and itched very badly u have to put baby powder on him so it will decrease the sunburn or it could be dry skin and i would suggest dandruff shampoo because our dogs get dandruff all the time and i know the shampoo is for humans bu t it works very well and if she has fleas i would get some dandruff shampoo and put alot of salt in the shampoo and shake it u then leave it for 10 minutes that should help or even if she doesn't have flea s that would also make her skin smooth and clean and that could prevent her from itching so bad.
Reply:it could be her food. My dog itched untill I put him on an allergy formula
Reply:Could be allergies or mange or many other conditions. You need to have her evaluated by a vet.
Reply:you should take her to the vet to see if she has a skin condition.
Reply:I would not recommend not giving her any human medicine at all. You need to take her to the vet. She might have mites or something.

sounds very much like it,get it checked out by your GP
Reply:go to the doctor or er now.you need treatment for them.
Reply:Seriously? See a doctor. No-one should have maggots/worm in their skin!

Reply:Yup. Very probably scabies.

Easy to cure, go and see your GP.
Reply:Get to your Dr. as I would say scabies, but I don't believe they get 4mm. I got them on my hands from playing in a sandbox at school about 50yrs ago. I don't know of any home recipes - prescriptions.
Reply:Haha thats the funniest question in a while.

Are you sure you are alive and not a zombie.

And if you are being serious then i apologise and all that can help you is to douse yourself in diesel, will kill any organisms, just do it away from a fire.
Reply:It sounds nothing like scabies. Scabies is caused by a mite. Take a look at the following site. It shows pictures of the scabies mite. In any case, you really do need to see a doctor for identification and treatment.
Reply:If this is true please post the remedy you find and exactly what is living off of you. I have never heard of this before but would like to know how to kill them....because you never know! Please go to an Emergency Room NOW!

I have a small dog who has very dry skin. She is itching all the time and there are no fleas.?
Nine times out of ten--the problem is diet. Essentual vitamins are missing. If you use the off-brand cheap dog food--that could be the culprit. Those foods tend to be short on protien and needed fats that your dog needs for good skin.

Other reason can be allergys, the breed of dog or certain health issues.
Reply:try to check her at any dog clinic.
Reply:Take her to the vet for some proper remedies
Reply:Take her to the vet. I just had the same problem with my small dog, and she has severe allergies. They will prescribe some allergy medicine for your dog. :)
Reply:sure do!

a mild coat conditioner can be gotten from your vet to help with it. In the mean time, A diluted amount of any gentle conditioner should help. Also, a couple of drops of mineral oil on your finger tips massaged into her skin should help with the dryness.

Other things around the house that can help with it - unscented lotion, something like a real base though nothing like beauty lotion - something like an unscented neutrogena or glysomed lotion but MAKE SURE it is in small small amounts and only rubbed into the bad areas.

edited to explain:

The reason I gave the options that I did was because the person asked for HOME REMIDIES, and not vet information.
Reply:Hi there, my pup had the same problem. It was the shampoo I was using for her. Although it was dog shampoo and very expensive, it still did the same thing. It was so bad that she had dandruff and it looked like she played in the snow! ha ha! But you can always try grooming shampoo rather than flee and tick shampoo. Otherwise, you can just go and pay through your nose for something from the vet... Good luck!!!
Reply:She may be allergic to something in your house that may cause skin allergy .Take her to the vet and ask of what u could to make it go away or at least help
Reply:I think it maybe best to take her to veterinarian to have the skin issue checked. It maybe a simple bacterial infection that needs antibiotics, or allergies (to fleas or foods), or just dry skin remedied with supplements in her diet. Only a veterinarian can tell you the cause and how to remedy it.
Reply:If she smells bad then the answer is fungal skin infection.

Bathing too often usually causes it.

Try buying some anti-fungal dog shampoo and resist the temptation to bathe more than once every 10 days.
Reply:A Vet is a good idea. Could be a food allergy? or a shampoo or might just be nerves? I put brewers yeast in with the food for extra nutrition. Some dogie treats are not what they seem to be also. Read labels and ask the vet questions. Write them all down before you go so you don't get rushed through the visit.
Reply:Hi there!

I feel sorry for your poor dog, My middle dog Buddy went through the same thing. He suffers from really dry skin that becomes even more irritated in the heat. I would strongly suggest a trip to the vet, you'll probably be prescribed Dermcaps, it costs around $19 + tax, unfortunately it is only sold as vet offices, you could try that petmed website i have never used it, so can't tell you for sure they sell it. It's not my place to judge and am well aware many people cannot always afford a trip to the vet, but that doesn't make for bad doggy parents. I was shocked to see many people advised shampoos and mild conditioners, please DONT do that, it will make the already irrated skin, more irritated, just think what happens to your scalp when you use lots of different shampoos and conditioners. Best home remedy it tinned tuna in oil. It costs about 90 cents a can, mix with normal dog food for 3 days and watch the results! Coat may become oily avoid the temptation to bath your pooch for at least a week, normally oily coat disapears before this anyway. Brush coat at least once a day to help disperse oil and stimulate blood under skin (again same as washing your own hair!) Also try giving your dog a raw egg once a week on their dog food to have a beautiful shiny, soft coat. Hope this helps and good luck!
Reply:Could it be mange? Does she have hot spots on her skin?

If so get your dog to the vet....mange spreads.
Reply:If its just from dry skin you may need special shampoo and conditioner. I had to use it too. Remember conditioner does help. Also be sure she has good dog food like Purina.

If none of these changes help she may have allergies and may need a vet to prescribe some medicine
Reply:To minimize shedding and dry skin, make sure you are feeding a good quality food that is "nutritionally complete". You could try adding a tablespoon of olive oil to her food. I like Nutro - it has no "by products" and is reasonably priced. Make any change in diet gradually or your dog may have diarrhea.

Have your vet check for allergies and intestinal worms - they can cause excessive shedding and skin problems.

Don't bathe your dog too often - no more than once every three months unless he's rolled in something. When you do, use cool water. Warm or hot water baths make them shed more and dry out the skin.
Reply:Get her some brewers yeast tablets at PetSmart. It also has omego 3 fatty acids and garlic that will help the dogs coat and skin.
Reply:you might want to try bag balm its for cows but it does work on dry skin. It also helps on burns.

The area above my eyelid has skin flaking and itching?

The skin flakes off and the area can become red

The area above my eyelid has skin flaking and itching?
Could be anything from eczema to fungal.... Try applying a basic anti-septic cream to it for a few days three times daily and see if it goes. If not, then I suggest you get a proper diagnosis as if you're using the wrong product you can actually make matters worse.

Good luck

PS: an alternative solution would be to apply a thin layer of set honey to it several times daily and over night. A bit sticky and messy but honey is one of the best natural skin healers.

Red scratch marks on skin with no itching?

random scratch marks appearing on stomach, arms and back of neck becoming deeper with time, no itching

Red scratch marks on skin with no itching?
They're probably stretch marks. A good moisturiser will get rid of them in time. Go to your doctor if you're worried.

Lately I have been itching very badly. I don't normally moisturize my skin, but I have been. What kind of ....

What kind of lotion should I use to stop from itching. I have exfoliated my skin and now have started putting lotion on, but what would be a good kind to stop from being so dry? Aveeno is doing nothing for me and I have tried Nivea as well as Baby lotion.

I have very dry and sensitive skin the only two lotions I've been able to use for the past six years is from Bath %26amp; Body works. It's a part of the true blue spa line called Lay it on thick, it has shea butter which is great, and it holds all day. The other I think has been discontinued it was a part of their pure simplicity line called co coa body balm it also lasts all day. Find a Bath %26amp; Body near you and use a sample to see if it agrees with your body chemistry. Also you might have to see a dermatolagist to see what all ingredients you have to avoid. Hope you love it as much as I do.
Reply:Olay.
Reply:Gold Bond! It is medicated for itchy skin, my hubby even has me put it on his back when it itches. It doesnt smell the greatest,(not bad, though) but really works. Curel works great too, i use it after a shower, or bath while my skin is still moist. It absorbs better that way.
Reply:My advice is use products that are PH5 to 7. These are all for Sensitive skin. Use wash as well with PH 5 to 7. It helps smooth the skin.
Reply:firstly, stop exfoliating your skin as it just make it worse. apply lotion after bath and before going to bed. i recommend Palmers Cocoa Butter or St Ives Swiss Formula other ways that can help to restore moisture is to drink plenty of water, eat fruits for Vit C and stay away from direct sun exposure or air condition. normally, you can see improved skin condition about a week. happy lotioning!!
Reply:first, stop using regular soap.it is full of chemicals that can have a bad effect on the skin.look for all natural soaps, only oils and lye.there's nothing that can cause problems in those.I've been making soap for many years and i find that if i use my luxury soap with cocoa and Shea butters,i don't need a moisturiser at all.also, after you wash your clothes, put 1/2 cup white vinegar in the rinse.it will remove any detergent residue left in your clothes.
Reply:Jergens for EXTRA dry skin, or Vaseline intensive care works really good. I know what you are going through, I get like that every time the seasons change. Good luck
Reply:Be careful not to use lotions with a mineral oil to them.

It's a cheap filler and hardens skin not softens it. People think otherwise. This is baby oil, petroleum (vaseline)...

If you took a cracker and placed it in a 1/4 of baby oil (which is distilled vaseline) it hardens if you take the same cracker and place it in 1/4 water it softens.

People think it works - but over time it is doing more harm then good.

So.. be careful about what you put on and use pure and natural products to help -

My cat has been itching her chin & now broken skin, leaving small sores & pimplish white bumps underneath.?

Hello there, I have a cat who is seven years old. She appears to be in over all great health. Recently I have noticed that she keeps itching on her chin. She now has scratched some of the hair away and has broken the skin. There seems to a few little white dots, like pimples on the exposed skin. What can I do for her, she doesn't seem to act like this is hurting her, but I would like to find out the reason %26amp; correct the problem. Any suggestions or advice for what I can do, or what is causing this?

My cat has been itching her chin %26amp; now broken skin, leaving small sores %26amp; pimplish white bumps underneath.?
if you are using a plastic bowl for food or water this is likely the cause

plastic is pourous and cannot be properly disinfected..if people use plastic bowls its recommended to replace them every 6 months

OR use stainless steel or ceramic...

if not.. it could be a food allergy (soy, wheat, corn)
Reply:Sounds like allergies, probably due to diet since it's focused around her mouth. Take her to the vet.
Reply:Feline acne generally involves a bacterial infection. Other conditions that can cause similar-appearing conditions include skin mites, ringworm, yeast infection, or auto-immune diseases such as eosinophilic granuloma complex ("rodent ulcers"). Therefore, if you do notice something going on in the chin area, a trip to the veterinarian's office is your best bet to make sure the problem is not more serious than a few zits!
Reply:my cat has the same problem. the vet said it was allergies. they gave her a cortosone shot to treat her allergies, and she got really sick from it. if your cat is overwieight do NOT let the vet give her cortozone. she could die from it. try giving her a little wet food each day... it moisterizes their coat. also, make sure her dishes are clean everyday.
Reply:It comes from bacteria-do you use a plastic food or water dish for the cat? If so, switch to glass and wash frequently. Rubbing alcohol applied twice a day will clear up the rash.
Reply:my sisters cat has the same thing , is very likely food allergy so you might have to change her diet , in any case bring her to see the vet.
Reply:It's feline acne most likely. It's treated by keeping the area clean. If it's advanced and there are any signs of infection, the vet can give kitty an antibiotic. Otherwise, get rid of the plastic feeding dishes if you have them, get ceramic or metal (plastic harbors the bacteria) and keep it clean!
Reply:Sounds like she has feline chin acne :) A good antibacterial soap, washing her chin once a day can help for a start. If that does not help, or if it seems to get worse, I would recommend taking her to the vet and having it checked out. My cat has had acne for the whole time I've had her. Most of the time, as mentioned, cleaning it daily takes care of her normal "flare ups". She did recently have a very severe bout where she lost most of the hair on her chin, had ulcers, had to have a biopsy and be put on oral antibiotics. It has since cleared up and you can't even tell she lost all her hair. Some management type things, she has stainless steel bowls that do not hold bacteria, and they get cleaned regularly. I'm not sure if it has helped her acne, but she is on a daily vitamin and joint supplement that has helped her coat, and no doubt her skin. Good luck with it :)
Reply:One of my cats has the same thing. The vet said allergies. He gave me Neopredef, a white powder that helps heal and also has something in it to control the itching. It works with her, but then a few weeks later she breaks out again. But at least the powder gives her a bit of respite. See if you can get this prescription powder, and good luck!

Just brought my corgi from Co to De now he's haveing alot of skin problems like dandruff and itching help?

He's been itching ALOT he was biting himself to the point where he was bleeding, we took him to the vet and they said he had flea allergies so we got some frontline and meds and went home. it went away for 2 months (the same 2 months we ewre back home in Co) as soon as we got home he started again so off to the vet we went again she thought it was the same thing only...she couldn't find a flea on him anywhere, so she gave him some meds said it was just skin allergies and sent him home...he's still scratching? is there any products out there that would help with his scratching and dandruff issues? (tried the itching shampoo and sprays)

Just brought my corgi from Co to De now he's haveing alot of skin problems like dandruff and itching help?
Do you change his food when you move? If you don't bring food from Colorado, the same brand here may be from a different supplier, and could have just one ingredient that he is allergic to. While you're in DE, I'd recommend going to Concord Pets.. there's one in New Castle County, one in Dover, One in Milford, and one in Rehoboth. They will go over your choice of food with you, and recommend a better, more holistic brand that may help the problems. Good luck, and if you go to the Dover one, tell Bobby, the manager, that Jayna sent you! (I go there a lot, it's where I bought my food, Innova, before I switched to raw)
Reply:The vet can probally help, I think you should go to the vet.
Reply:Try bathing him every three to four days in Oatmeat shampoo. Let him sit in it for 5-10 minutes and rinse well. Do not use any perfumes on him or anything else. this should help.
Reply:My Westie has had skin probs for years and has often had to go on steriods which though they work, isn't good for them long term. We recently changed vets and she said to try him on Piriton allergy tablets from the chemist. We gave him 2 a day until his skin improved, now he has one at night. He's so much better. I hope this works for you.
Reply:my 5 yr old cardi gets seasonal skin allergies, does the same thing, and ends up on antibiotics, cuz he rips himself raw. not a pretty site. i've argued with the vet for years about the fleas, you r familiar with the corgi coats, but mine doesn't have fleas. i think it's a grass allergy, or possibly a fertilizer allergy- either way twice a year he does this, and we do the same thing as has been mentioned - oatmeal baths on the affected areas, septiderm skin products, and if needed antibiotics till it's over. i have a 9mo old who does not have this problem, and we haven't had a problem with dandruff. i also, if i haven't been successfull with my vet, will call the breeder up, they seem to know everything! good luck.

I've just started to learn swimming and ever since my skin started itching, esp my legs and calf, what can I do

This is probably because the chlorine is drying your skin out. Does yor swimming facility have showers? If so, bring your own shampoo and conditioner and rinse yourself off right after you get out of the pool. Also use lotion to moisturize your skin. If you keep itching, talk to your doctor.

I've just started to learn swimming and ever since my skin started itching, esp my legs and calf, what can I do
rinse off as soon as you get out of pool, the chlorine in the water is irritating your skin. If it's not your pool you probably have no choice on what chemicals are used to keep water clean so you may have to stop swimming there or tuff it out!

Good luck!
Reply:There is, most likely, one of two causes of your itching. You may have an allergy to the water chemicals or the pH of the water may be wrong (should be 7.2 to 7.4, + or - a tenth or two).

I'd suggest that you ask to have the pH checked as that is the easiest route. If that does not work, you might try a simple antihistamine. If that doesn't work, get a sample of the water, take it to a pool chemical shop and ask them to analyze it (be sure to get a print out of the analysis). They do water analysis as, when they find some deficiency, they try to sell you pool chemicals.

Then take the water analysis to your doctor. The doctor might be able to help you.

Good luck!
Reply:The chlorine may be drying out your skin. Try putting lotion on after you shower after swimming. If this doesn't help, it may be that the chemicals are not properly balanced or you are having a localized allergic reaction.
Reply:shower after you get out of the pool and use lotion on your finger tips and legs.
Reply:This happens to me all the time. You probably have sensative skin, you can get some body lotion for that. As soon as you get out of the chlorinated water, you should go right into the shower
Reply:This happens to me. I swim in a horrible poll with way to much chlorine year-round. Make sure to take a shower as soon as you get out. And like out or not you have to put lotion on!:) Especially moisturizing lotions. Helped me!
Reply:rinse off after you are done swimming, dry off, and put some lotion all over your body so it will not be dry and itchy....

How to cure my dry itching peeling skin on my face?

it start with itchiness right above my upper lip, after scratching it for a while it started to peel nonstop, then i got patches of dry peeling skin on my face, its comes and goes, i went to the doctor before and they gave me hydrochrodazone(sp) to use. while i'm using it, it will go away, but when i try to cut down or stop, it will come back. it has been almost two years. i'm currently not using any medication, just putting alot of lotion on my face. the lotion calms it, but doesn't make the problem go away.

can anyone tell me what is wrong? i drink alot of water during the day, and i'm eating healthy. is it something that i'm allergic to? or something i'm lacking in my diet?

thanks!

How to cure my dry itching peeling skin on my face?
you're doing everything right... if the doctor gave you hydrocortisone cream that means it's not too too serious... you might want to try using cetaphil as the lotion you use on your face... it keeps your skin moisturized for a longer period of time... so you won't have to use it as frequently... another thing: don't scratch... instead of scratching, you might want to rub an ice cube over the itchy areas of your face... sometimes that cools it down so it's not itchy...
Reply:hydrocortisone cream

When ever i get in the sun my skin starts itching like it's irritated only the last week why?

You may have overexposed yourself to the point of having sun poisoning.

Medications can cause the symptoms you're describing, as well.

If you're taking any type of medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist to see if you need to limit your exposure.

I have 2 pekingese dog's, which have skin problems, itching, tried every shampoo out there, any help?
You don't say if this just started or this is a year around problem. Also, if your dog is losing hair in patches that are spreading, see your vet as it may be mange %26amp; 1 type is contagious to people.

I have seen great improvement in allergic dogs fed Solid Gold dog food. It has really done the trick for several of them.

This time of year is an allergy free for all. So, allergies are a possibility. Your dogs could be allergic to grass, food, air fresheners, laundry detergent, pollen or just about anything. The biggest cause of allergic reactions in dogs is fleabites. They can scratch for weeks from a bite.

I would change food and give each dog 2mg of Benadryl per pound of dog. Give once or twice per day. The children's liquid is helpful for every small dogs.

If you are not already using a topical flea treatment like Advantage or Frontline, do so immediately. Getting rid of the flea bites helps tremendously. And people that say that their dogs don't have fleas are kidding themselves. If you are not using one of these products..... you have fleas.

As to the shampoo, due to all the scratching %26amp; chewing, you most probably have a staph infection here also. So, I would wash these dogs once per week in a chlorhexidine shampoo. Follow directions. Rinse very, very well and follow with a moisturizing hypo allergic conditioner. You can walk into most vets offices and purchase this type of shampoo. I like Malaseb which also contains miconizole nitrate for fungus.

Vets are quick to prescribe cortisone for allergic dogs. And in some cases it can be helpful (allergic to flea bites) but a dog can't stay on cortisone forever. Cortisone depresses the immune system and also raises blood pressure.

Dog dermatology is a HUGE business. And you can spend thousands of dollars attempting to cure these dogs. Several of my clients have gone the allergy testing route. I can't truthfully say that these "tested" dogs fair any better than those that aren't.
Reply:use a shampoo that has a wheat base
Reply:You should take them to the vet. They might be allergic to something, or have a underlying skin disease.
Reply:It is probably allergies, which unfortunately are very hard to deal with. You will have to get allergy testing, or if you can't afford that try putting her on a hypoallergenic diet (Z/D by Hills is good). You will have to try it for 6 months before you see any improvement. If allergies persist, it might be a contact allergy (something that touches their skin) like cotton. I would suggest taking them to the vet and seeing what he thinks; allergy testing is definitely a good idea, though.
Reply:I would take them to the vet. It may be allergies or it could be something worse, like skin mites or mange.

My lab has food allergies, she is on a restricted diet, of duck and potato dog food. She has been on the diet for 4 months and the itching has completely stopped, but the food is very expensive.
Reply:My dog has bad allergies. I can only bath him with shampoo that is oatmeal based. PetMarts has alot of shampoo to choose from that are good for your dog. Also seeing a vet could help. My dog had to also be put on a dose of steroid medicine at first. Hope this helps.

How do you stop a child's skin from itching? I've tried basically everything. I was told may be allergies.

DO NOT listen to what the first person said. never put warm on itches. makes it worse, it might make it feel better, but afterwards, they will itch even more

try some benadryl first, you know, antihistamine

your child has an overproduction of Histamine being caused by an allergen. Histamine is what causes itchiness. There is an allergen (something he is allergic to) in the environment.

sounds like maybe the type of clothes detergent you use, or itchy clothes, maybe pets, maybe dust, could be any little thing

if nothing works, you will have to take the child to a dermatologist and get an allergy test to see what this allergen is, the dermatologist is the most helpful person when it comes to the skin

good luck

p.s. something that will help is to give him lukewarm baths in oatmeal Aveeno products, or the generic, whatever, then rub on him some Oatmeal lotion afterwards, this might help, he may just have really dry skin. Do this, and if it doesn't work, switch around detergents, etc, but if nothing still works, you need to go to dermatologist for a allergen test

How do you stop a child's skin from itching? I've tried basically everything. I was told may be allergies.
Maybe if you use a hot towel and place it on the itchy part it might stop. it might sting a little but will cool down in a few seconds.
Reply:Theres an oitment called "Butt Paste" that stops just about any kind of itching there is. It was featured on Oprah.
Reply:Find out if the child has excema. If so, the doctor will prescribe meds. If that doesn't seem so, put moisturizer on the child after a bath, while the skin is still damp. Does he scratch at night while sleeping? Put socks on his hands so he doesn't make it bleed and cause an infection. Itching is like torture. I know how heartbreaking it is to watch someone suffer that way.

well, it might be skin discoloration, and if u want to get rid of it put cover up medicine on it

it might be white heads, but if they're not raised, then go with my first therey

Reply:I had something like that years ago when a teenager. Mine were patches about the size of a quarter, little white bumps that were drier than the surrounding skin. Several patches, mostly on arms and legs. A dermatologist determined that I needed more vitamin A so I got some supplements at health food store. That and massaging vitamin e cream on them regularly and they went away.

What is the home remedy for skin rashes& itching. i have used neem & haldi but no use plz tell me some other m

Oatmeal and baking soda bathes are supposed to be very good for skin rashes and itches.

But you'll want to take other action too. For instance, start using an allergen-free laundry detergent. From what you say, you may be allergic to the one you have. Also, check your bath soap and make sure you're not allergic to that.

Good luck!

What is the home remedy for skin rashes%26amp; itching. i have used neem %26amp; haldi but no use plz tell me some other m
Baking soda is a neutralize for the ph in your skin. Run a warm bath pour in about a 1/2 cup of baking soda in the water and sit down and pour it over the rashed or itching area for several minutes. Get out of the tub, pat your skin dry. Do this twice a day. Do not use creams or other ointments after this. Used this remedy when I was a kid, worked fine then and does the trick for me now. Hope it will help you.
Reply:Oatmeal baths. But plain oats in something like a panty hose and allow it to float in the water while you soak in the tub. It works for my 4 yr old.
Reply:soak some pennies in vinegar for a few days and use the vinegar. you can leave the pennies in it or take them out.
Reply:I'm sorry you have this problem, I hope some of these pages offer help. First try to figure out what is causing the problem.

Rashes are often caused by contact with an irritating substance (oil from poison oak or ivy plants, ingredients in cleaning products and cosmetics, chemicals in swimming pools or hot tubs, pollutants in the air and water, etc.). Some have viral causes (such as roseola, rubella, measles), and others appear for no apparent reason. If possible, the cause of a rash should be determined and removed. Homeopathic remedies can be useful in many cases, to soothe the itching, inflammation, and discomfort.

The first link might help with finding a type of rash and treatment.

The second link has some natural health options with treatments.

I do hope these help and you get better quick!!!

maybe you have eczema or an allergy to something?

think about what you may have come into contact with recently - creams, chemicals, etc.

Why does my neck's skin keep itching , stingy and tender(pain)?

You should be asking your doctor this, not YA where you are liable to receive dubious responses. Why keep suffering? make an appointment and get it sorted! Best of luck.

Why does my neck's skin keep itching , stingy and tender(pain)?
Could be alot of things. If you're sweating or dehydrated, you could have prickly heat. That will go away once you cool down, hydrate, and let the irritation go away on its own. If you are not, you could be allergic to the soap you washed your clothing in. Or if you wear a necklace, it could be irritating you. I get the same itchy, stinging feeling after I've eaten something i'm allergic to. First figure out if it's something like soap or jewelry, then you may want to talk to a doctor about it.

I dont know why my skin keeps itching every where and my scalp too any suggestions?

I dont know why my skin keeps itching every where and my scalp too any suggestions?
Probably a severe allergy. I have had allergies, but nothing like this season. I scratch all day and put on lotion. It's awful. Benadryl would probably work if you aren't allergic to it. Ask your pharmacist.
Reply:I have had dry skin problems, especially in the winter months, when the air is very dry. My solution came after alot of eliminations. I have found that Omega 3 ( fish oil) helps to moisturize your skin from the inside out. Any fish oil goes directly to your skin. Omega 3 is in a pill form--a large capsule that is easy to swallow. Take one everyday and you will notice after about 3 days that the itching stops.

Will coconut oil help my skin from itching?

Well, I spose that depends on why your skin is itching... however, I use unrefined extra-virgin coconut oil on my skin and I think there is nothing better!

Will coconut oil help my skin from itching?
Hey thanks! Report It

Reply:coconut, avocado, hazelnut and apricot kernel oils are all great skin conditioners. If your skin is dry, any of the above will help stop itching, with continued use.
Reply:Try cocoa butter. It's supa-cheap, works really well, and it makes you smell wonderful!
Reply:Oh yes. Be sure to take it out of the coconut before you apply it.
Reply:Maybe but do be careful not to set fire to yourself coconut oil is well flammable.
Reply:it will soothe it for a little while .
Reply:While I'm not sure about cocunut oil stoping itch, i know a good home remidy. Smearing Toothpaste over the itchy area will help stop itching. As a rule of thumb, the icier it makes your breat feel when you brush with it, the better it will stop itching, just NEVER use this suggestion on a COLD NIGHT, it will be bad, trust me.
Reply:Coconut oil has also been tested for use as a biodiesel engine fuel, though the high melting point makes its use difficult.

In India, coconut oil is used as an oil for styling hair.

It is also excellent as a skin moisturizer. A study shows that extra virgin coconut oil is as effective and safe as mineral oil when used as a moisturizer, with absence of adverse reactions.[4]
Reply:It is known that nature has natural cures for health issues, but i would use a anti-itching cream that is doctor-trusted. If you really want to use this I would research it,btu if you're like anti-itching cream would do just fine.
Reply:Coconut oil can be used as food or used as a skin lotion. It is very effective against dry skin. You can also try mixing Tea Tree oil into your body wash.
Reply:If you use any oil, make sure it is pure oil. Almost everything on the market today , is water, alcohol, glycerin and then a long list of other chemicals. READ THE INGREDIENTS ! Women spend a Bazillion dollars every year for water and alcohol to put on their dry skin which makes their skin more dry so the will buy more moisturizers.

The best I have found is A + D Cream, used for diaper rash and Vaseline. Try them, They really work and you are not buying water.

Everytime when I bath, my skin is itching very bad.?

change soaps

Everytime when I bath, my skin is itching very bad.?
Buy a simple soap like Dove without added perfumes etc.
Reply:bathe in pure rubbing alcohol
Reply:Use a touch of oil in your bath, and make sure you put on lots of lotion when you get out. Use a mild soap!! I hope this helps, I hate to have itcy, dry skin.
Reply:do yoiu use any sort of bubble bath or bath additive, assuming you have checked out the soap issue already....the cheaper bubble baths can have chemicals in them that react with skin ... check if water from a basin has any effect, if yes then it is the water, if not its what you add to the bath.....
Reply:try switching to a non scented soap for a week and then if the itching stops then you know its the soap ...

if not then probably you have dry skin... try lotioning you whole body with a good lotion like coccoa butter, aloe vera, etc.

GOOD LUCK

Reply:i get this also, but my skin isnt sensitive, i dont appear to have any rashes, anything like that, but when i get in the bath, omg sometimes my legs, mainly from below the knee itch like crazy, and when i get out lol, im there for ages itching, but it usually goes within about 10 mins after, my mum gets this also, very strange, my doc dosent understand it either??
Reply:My son changed his soap to an oatmeal one. I also advised him to turn down the water temperature. Lastly, there can be something in the water itself that causes it
Reply:what you using to clean with? use some baby oil!
Reply:You could be allergic to the soap you are using to bath with.
Reply:There are three possible causes for your skin to itch. One, the product that you use might be the reason for the itchiness that you feel. Maybe it is the soap or anything that you use in your bath that might be causing your skin to itch. I suggest for you to try other products that does not contain harsh components, e.g. Bath salts. Two, the water or the tub itself but it is less likely. And the last one is that probably your bath might not be the reason for your skin to itch, it might be other reasons, e.g. in the air or other possible allergens.

Excessive itching/flaking skin?

My chihuahua is close to 10 years old and has always had seasonal skin allergies and flaking in the fall months. I've taken her to the vet and all he wants to do is inject her with hydrocotizone. I fear that this is taking time off of her life although it helps. She is on a special diet, high in OMEGA fatty acids, etc. and I don't believe it's a food allergy niether does the vet.

The poor thing is miserable, any SERIOUS suggestions?

Excessive itching/flaking skin?
You could gradually switch her to a food like Royal Canin Chihuahua, specially formulated for that breed. Then ask your Vet about 3V Skin Caps which is a supplement containing Omega 3 and Vit A, D and E which work together to improve skin and coat.

No harm in trying. It has helped my dogs, two of them have sensitive skin and one used to get cortisone shots regularly.

Also, how often do you bathe your dog and what with? Maybe the Vet can suggest a medicated shampoo that will help her skin and coat, or get a hypoallergenic shampoo from your area pet store. One woman I know adds a benadryl capsule to her dogs shampoo. It works topically in this way.
Reply:I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you should change it's food just temporarily, to see if that's it, cause you never know, and worse case scenario, your dog gets tastier food. ^^ How often do you bathe her? And what shampoo do you use? She may be allergic to the shampoo, I would get her a special type of allergenic shampoo...And maybe to spoil her, or help her feel a little better, I would get her a sweater. ^^ Anyway, good luck!! I hope everything works out okay. Happy holidays.
Reply:Do you use any flea and tick treatments on your dog? It may be the problem. My lab/springer mix suffered from skin allergies resulting in problems with flea and tick treatments. You may also want to consider changing the dog's food to possibly a organic type food or one designed for dogs with sensitive skin. The Nutro line has some really great foods and my dog did very well on the sensitive stomach formula. Once I put her on this food and took her off Science Diet(which is one of the worst foods for dogs) her skin cleared up(she was always scratching and had white flaky patches on her joints). She still had problems with flea and tick treatments, but I found that Sergeants Rid Flea and Frontline didn't bother her.
Reply:There are two items available at PetSmart for this problem:

I'm sure most good pet stores have similar items.

Reply:One of our dogs had that problem. What corrected it was a humidifier and using tons of conditioner, unless allergic to it?

I just shaved my mustache and my skin is itching what can i do so it wont itch?

Im going to a party in 2 hours and i dont want to be scratching the whole time and i dont want it to be red im only 15 so i dont shave often and not used to it

I just shaved my mustache and my skin is itching what can i do so it wont itch?
Ouch I don't know...I would suggest an anti-itch lotion or sunburn lotion...it shouldn't hurt your skin or make it red. You should keep a good gentle after shave lotion around...something without alcohol. If you have nothing just put some antibiotic cream on it for a while and maybe it will stop the sting or vaseline if nothing around at all.
Reply:scratch it some more. keep scrathing it
Reply:use some aftershave, so that it doesnt itch, im 16 and i only shaved twice.......ask ur dad for aftershave, my dad says it prevents itching, and isnt that wat aftershave is for.............
Reply:Use an after shave balm, they have them for ultra sensitive skin to normal skin. Light blue chapstick could help too.

Herpes symptoms??? Rashes - 'gritty' skin bumps? - Itching???

My oldest son knows that he has herpes -

He came to me asking if his 4th outbreak (ongoing for 2 months, now) can this time, include the symptoms that I've listed?

As I have no personal experience with this STD; the best I can advise him is to see an MD. . .

Any suggestions, or personal input, from those of you who 'deal' with this virus?

Herpes symptoms??? Rashes - 'gritty' skin bumps? - Itching???
Symptoms of herpes are called outbreaks. The first outbreak appears within 2 weeks after you become infected and can last for several weeks. These symptoms might include tingling or sores near the area where the virus has entered the body, such as on the genital or rectal area, on buttocks or thighs, or occasionally on other parts of the body where the virus has entered through broken skin. They also can occur inside the vagina and on the cervix in women, or in the urinary passage of women and men. Small red bumps appear first, develop into small blisters, and then become itchy, painful sores that might develop a crust and will heal without leaving a scar.

Sometimes, there is a crack or raw area or some redness without pain, itching, or tingling.

Other symptoms that may accompany the first (and less often future) outbreak of genital herpes are fever, headache, muscle aches, painful or difficult urination, vaginal discharge, and swollen glands in the groin area.

Often, though, people don’t recognize their first or subsequent outbreaks. People who have mild or no symptoms at all may not think they are infected with herpes. They can still transmit the virus to others, however.
Reply:herpes is the same type of virus as chicken pox and cold sores.. So its the same painful little raised bumps with clear liquid tops (like pimples) that last for about 10days.. Highly contangious. and can spread from one area to another.. There is no cure, but they can go in remision for some time.. from a few days/weeks to years.. and erupt under stress, illness, colds etc.. sorry!.. there might be creams that the pharmacist can provice for releaf of symptoms though.
