I assume you mean a Dog?

As dogs age they cannot excrete protein in their urine so it builds up in the body and the first warning sign, dog starts to itch. At that point you need to put the dog on a low protein food, the lowest you can find and you will see the improvement.
Reply:My moms dog is also very itchy and uncomfortable. her vet said she could be allergic to corn, which is in alot of pet foods, and isn't good for any dog apparently. He also told her to put fish oil in her food, or just give her a capsule every day. AND try using distilled water instead of the stuff that comes out of the tap. hope some of this helps your poor pooch!
Reply:dog?

yeah, i was told to rub oil or something on mine. he's a boston terrier with dandruff
Reply:Dry skin problems respond well to self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. If you have very dry and scaly skin, your doctor may recommend you use an over-the-counter cream that contains lactic acid or lactic acid and urea.

In a more serious skin disease, such as ichthyosis or psoriasis, your doctor may prescribe prescription creams and ointments or other treatments in addition to home care.

Dry skin leads to dermatitis, which causes red, itchy skin. In these cases, treatment may include hydrocortisone-containing lotions. If your skin cracks open, your doctor may prescribe wet dressings with mildly astringent properties to contract your skin and reduce secretions and prevent infection.
