My skin is always itching and when i scratch?

i come up in these big welts every where, my scalp and arms and torso are mostly effected its driving me mad what could it be.

My skin is always itching and when i scratch?
Yes, its definitely not good to scratch! Try taping oven mitts to your hands like Phoebe in Friends!
Reply:Allergy, they are called hives from an allergic reaction. Try not to scratch. Take an antihistamine like benadryl. If it's serious seek medical attention.
Reply:the welts are called hives. you have allergic reaction to something or you are having a stress reaction. go to dermatologist.
Reply:your skin may be dry; if so apply something that will help the dryness. If you keep scratching you can cause more problems.
Reply:this happens to me also for me it is stress
Reply:Rather than scratch try dabbing, its not as good but can be effective. Go and see you r gp and they are more likely to give you the correct anti histamine, or go and see the chemist they should be good for advice.
Reply:It sounds as though you have an allergy. If it is on your head and body I wouldn't think that it was a body cream. You should go to the doctors and have an allergy test done. Good luck, it must feel awful.
Reply:It sounds like an allergy to something. The welts are a result of a histamine reaction in your skin. So to relieve the itching take an antihistamine, Benedryl or Zirtec. Don't scratch as the heat you impart from scratching will make it worse. Try and analyse what you were eating or what was the common factor when the reaction starts, as it could be food or surroundings that causes your reaction.
Reply:My sister had an itching skin for ages and no doctor could tell her what it was. Then after another blood-test they found out she has some kind of fungus (in her stomac, I think) which then transfers into her blood and causes the itching skin. She is now on some kind of diet and I think takes medicine (not quite sure what).

I'd suggest you go see a doctor and have a blood test done.
Reply:Sounds like scabies, hives. you really need to see your family doctor.
Reply:hi love it could be shingles or something best to see doctor
Reply:hiya it could be scabies am sorry to say ! must go see your GP
Reply:Yeah me too.

I'm trying to cut out dairy as this makes skin conditions worse. It usually happens when I am tired, so I think it is stress.

I have also changed my washing powder! Haven't put everything through yet though! Will keep you posted if I find a cure!

Don't worry though, Don't think it's serious.
Reply:several things............... woolly jumpers, soap residue, crabs, lobsters, its endless. Give it the cold water treatment, after taking a shower and making sure you wash off all the soap, grit your teeth and turn off the hot water, take the neat cold stuff for as long as you can (10 seconds) then dry by patting rather than scrubbing with a towel.... Best of luck and if you are male, take care with the cold water, it makes things vanish.............
