My skin constantly itches all the time, what can I do to stop the itching?

For almost my whole life I have experienced constant itching , mostly on my back and scalp region. I am fine at the end , but it annoys me, what can I do?

you must have extremely dry skin. Use lots of lotion when you get out of the shower-good lotion thats thick. Use a moisurizing shampoo, but don't rinse with hot water, rinse with cool water.
Reply:i would go to your doctor. and see if you suffer from exema

and if eledel is right for you
Reply:It sounds like you have psoriosis or exima. (however you spell them). You can try getting some benadryl and taking one a day or use a lotion like baby lotion on it to help moisten the area so it is not dry. I have a problem with dry itchy skin myself and I try to keep lotion on me all the time or I will flake and itch like crazy on my arms and legs. The other thing is to change your laundry detergent to either dreft or a baby detergent or even the ALL clear works. Your detergent could be part of the problem. And if you use bar soap when you take a bath stop and start using a liquid soap instead. Good luck and hopefully you will get the advice you are looking for that will work for you.
Reply:If you're mentioning scalp area, I could only suspect a few things, like dandruffs or lice. If so, then take good care of your personal hygiene, take showers, wash your hair region thoroughly, more regular baths. But if you're sure it's not one of those, there are some other conditions associated to itchiness too, like some parasitic infection on the skin. They are normally attended by swelling and redness of the area. If that's not the case, there are a few more diseases such as hypercholesterolaemia. Where your blood cholesterol level is so high it's deposited in your cutaneous (skin) tissue.

So in the end, after changing your bedsheets, changing your personal hygiene regime (and possibly change a new brand of more suitable shampoo), if the condition doesn't improve, don't wait, visit a doctor. Hope this helps. Good luck!

p/s: It's psoriasis and eczema is the right spelling. They tend not to be itchy but painful and sore
Reply:Maybe if you take an anti-histermine it may help,i do and it works wonders.
Reply:Chances are that you either have ecsema or Seborrhoeic dermatitis(which some people call dandruff, but it is not just limited to the scalp) Go to the doctor or a dermatologist and tell them your symptoms, they'll be able to prescribe an oral steroid (not the type that make you turn into a manly man) or a steroid lotion. Could also be acne or a particular hair product or detergent on your clothes or even hard water. If you live in the country and your water comes off of a well it may be time to get the well tested (should be tested every ten years).
